bolt pattern question

Hi, I'm new to the mazda protege scene and I've been following the forums quite actively. I'm getting a 2002 ES 2.0 in the summer from my sister. I'm trying to find some bolt pattern information in order to buy a set of summer wheels/tires. I've notcied in other forums that the only cars that came with 4x100 pattern were the LX and DX models for 2001+ and that ES version came with the 5x114.3 pattern. The thing is, the car came with 4 bolts, and I'm having a hard time finding the correct diamter across each bolt. So, I'm wondering if any of you guys know what the bolt pattern is? Thanks.

The confusion because canadian model ES 2.0 has bolt pattern 4 x 100 mm and ES 2.0 with GT package 5 x 114.3 mm. They have different tires size also

ES 195/55/15
ES with GT 195/50/16

Did you find wheels for your car? I think it's difficlut to find decent wheels because of recommended offset +45. What diameter you're looking for?

Hi, thanks for the reply,

I was look at 205/40/17 tires with O.Z. Hydras (17x7), but the offset is way too small. I'm still in the search for rims. Do you have the canadian model as well?

Yes, I have canadian Protege ES without GT. I also looking for alloy rims but I think I'll stick with stock size 15' or go to 16'
17' looks cool but it adds more weight for suspension. I don't want to get more letargic acceleration that I have now ;-) I hear you when you're saying about offset. It's hard to find decent wheels with offset +45 or higher. You don't want to end up with rubbing fender.

Thanks for the link! I was looking at the enkei racing series line, and I found a rim with a +45 offset for a 17'. So I might get that, but I will probably wait until the car comes before I make a wise decision. BTW, where did you find out about the offset on your car? Is there a link? and How do you like your car so far?

I got that information that our stock 15' rims +45 from the dealership.

You won't regret about the car. It's very reliable vehicle with good handling. Surprisingly is very roomy inside for a small car.
Only few things I don't like about car is acceleration ( I have auto transmission).
Especially if you climb uphill engine is getting very noisy. You won't complain if you get with the manual tranny. Fuel economy is not bad. On highway I'm getting 7.5/100 and strictly city driving short trips with a lot of traffic lights worst I've ever got 11.5/100 Normally in city you should get 10.8. It does have stiff suspension but for a lot of people is more pros than cons.
OEM stock tires Potenza RE92 are horrible in winter.

Thanks, I made some calls to some Mazda dealerships and they don't know the offset at all. That is one, unusually high offset.

I guess I know why you are sticking to a 15' or going with a 16'. The auto tranny. I've driven the car before, I must say its got a lot of jump, and I agree with the fact that it is one noisy car.

I've read terrible reviews on the OEM tires, but I will run them dry once I get the car and then dispose of them. It is either the Blizzaks WS-050 or LM-22 for winter.

Anyways, thanks for helping me out!!
