Answers!

hey guys

I am going to buy rims in a month or so, but I need some help
I have my car lowered with the eibach kit, and I want to go to 17's so here is the problem

I know the offset should be from +45 and up but what size tires do I use? 205 or 215 and hopefully something that doesn't screw up my speedometer too much if at all

Maybe you should wait at least a day before getting pissed off about not getting an answer.

By now, any decent wheel/tire shop should know about the Protege5's strange offset requirements. If they are clueless I would suggest you shop around elsewhere until you find a place the knows what they're doing. They should also do a test-fit on your car to make sure that there is no rubbing before you commit to a sale.

That said, 215/40R17 would be the best size compared to stock tire diameter. So try that first. If it rubs then drop back to a 205/40R17. I don't think you'll have problems with +45 and Eibachs.. the only people I have heard of with rubbing problems on a +45 wheel are those with coilovers.

Use this tire size calculator. It can be found in the FAQ but obviously you never bothered to check. That's fine, but then don't turn around and demand an answer after only 5.5 hours. Also, the search function works REALLY well for this stuff.

Not to mention that Richie has a business he runs...he is a MEMBER of our board that is kind enough to offer us all valuable information and good deals on top of that. its NOT his job to sit on a computer somewhere and just wait for people to ask tire/wheel questions.....

and on top of that you stated you weren't buying the rims/tires for a month or so......SO WHAT IS THE BIG DAMN RUSH for someone to answer YOUR frickin question!!

I would agree with you. Whenever he returns I need to find out about some wheels.

good lord... i leave for like 10 hours.. and there's like 8 billion posts with flames and people getting pissy. Rishie is not here just for you. He offers us valuable information as Joe said, and is willing to help any and all pro owners (even though a lot don't buy from him, which imho they should, after having dealt with him on my rims) i used that calculator, and with my 205/40/17's the speedo was off by less than one percent. it's not much of a difference.

I want to buy from him, as he has put a lot of effort into getting great fitments and I'm sure his prices are good as well.

richie will be the first one to tell you that you can do a better deal IN canada then what it will cost you to get the wheels and tires from him and have to pay import taxes and duty on them....

HOWEVER, he will help you with any infromation you need/want.....regardless of whether or not you are buying them from him or not. Its just the kind of guy he is.

Yeah, he was honest and told me right away that he won't be able to beat a deal that I can get here locally in Canada because of the exchange rate, handling n shipping, etc......

I wish I could buy stuff from Rishie because he has been so helpfull, but it just doesn't make sense if you're in Canada.
