I'm trying to decide on what tires to get for my car. I live in wisconsin, so I need something that will still get me through winter, but I don't plan on getting snow tires. I also want something that matches my driving style, which is fast and aggressive. I also don't plan on replacing my stock 14" alloys in the near future. I'm thinking of the new Potenza RE-950's or Comp T/A's. Anyone have any recommendations?

 

The Michelin Pilot XGT-Z4 is a nice HP all-season. Don't get the XGT-H4. . . I had a set and they sucked.

I was a big Yokohama fan, but that's diminishing.

I have a friend who changed from BFG HR4-2s to Bridgestone RE950s on his '92 LX and is extremely pleased with the new tires. Much better in the rain and MUCH quieter on the highway. It hasn't snowed in Seattle yet, so no word yet on snow performance. But there aren't a lot of 14" tires that are good in rain and can handle occsional snow. He runs 195/60-14 BTW, and they look good, filling the fenders much better than the stock size, and little degradation of performance. In fact, wet weather performance is much better (less wheelspin).

But to reiterate, if you drive in snow a lot, real snow tires are unbeatable. Get a set of cheap steel wheels, and they (the tires) should last 2-3 seasons, and the first time you don't hit someone/run off the road, they've more than paid for themselves.
