2002 Protege (factory)Tires
#19
They are very good tires to come as OEM on an econobox. In the dry, they're amazing, in the wet they're OK, but hey there are alot of worse tires out there.
The tradeoff for the dry abilities is poor snow performance. They're ultra high performance all season. But they less that latter, so remember to drive with them carefully in snow or get some snow tires.
One thing that's odd is that the P5/ES tires are of a 55 or less aspect ratio and so should have an asymmetric tread pattern as opposed to the symmetric tread pattern of tires, which are on the 55+ aspect ratio of the SP5000s. Were they specially made for the P5/ES by Dunlop, because I don't know of any other car that has the same tires in the same size.

Dunlops
I think the Dunlops are fine tires espicially for a relatively inexpensive car. Have you seen what the base civics come with these days, some crappy firestones that are worn out quickly even with low mileage. The Dunlops seem to wear fine and don;t seme to have much rollover cause of the lower profile design. I am happy with them.

If you can't afford new tires, you'll just have to watch it in the rain!
