2002 Protege (factory)Tires
 

hey waz goin' on?! i got an issue here...i bought my car back in october and of course i have the same tires, they are bridgestone and i hate them...i live in FL and lately its been madd rainy outside, so my tires always tend to slide, very dangerous...

i would like to know if may be anyone else has this problem, and if not, then what should i do? i dont have the bones ($) to get new tires yet, so i'm kinda stuck...

The Bridgestone Potenza's (they should be called Poortenzas....) suck hard. I've talked to a fair number of people that have had hydroplaning issues, and I can tell you personally that they are the worst in snow/ice.

If you can't afford new tires, you'll just have to watch it in the rain!

Once pulling into work, in some rain, I slammed my breaks on.

I've got a P5 w/ no ABS.

It was wierd just sliding and having no control, scary even.

Although I've done similar w/ a 1999 Ford Taurus w/ ABS.

for stock tires, they're not that bad. could be worse, we could have had the family goodyear eagles or something. but yeah, mine did slide (b4 i put a hole in one of them). i would suggest buying new tires, and wheels too cause finding the right size tire sux @ss (factory 16's but hardly anyone makes that size tire...)

Pirelli makes a decent tire in the stock size. I think its the P6000. Its not a high performance tire by any means, but its better than the Dunlops mine came with.

They're the worst! Poortenzas indeed. Even going slow, my car slides all over the place in the rain. There's not much you can do about it, just be careful I guess.

I really want to replace them, but I just can't see throwing away tires with just under 7000 miles on them.

i have dunlop sp5000's for stock tires...anybody else have these for stock tires?

I think i have dunlops too, I think.............. and its to cold to go outside and look in the garage.

i got dunlops too!
they slip on the painted road lines when the ground's wet. i really have to accelerate slowly off the line at an intersection when it's wet out.

i hydroplaned into a friggin' telephone pole once because of those tires.

yeah i feel ya on the slow starts when wet....they just completey blow. i hate em....sad thing is that tire rack gives them a pretty good rating on alot of the categories.
