2002 ES tires

Hi,

Posted ithis before but I think it didnt post. Just wondering on tire life/strength of the 02 ES's 16" tires. I have read that other cars with low aspect ratio tires see bubbling in the sidewalls after hiting a bump/pothole/railroad track. WHile the protege is light, Im just wondering how the tires handle that stuff. Also, how do they wear and how are they in the snow? They are a relatively high performance tire, and it would suck to get lousy life or poor traction.
Thanks

JMH

I'm not sure anyone can answer that yet (unless there's some Alaska owners on here) as most of us haven't gotten any show yet, and as far as I know this is the first year the Dunlop SP Sport 5000m's have been installed.
So far I LOVE them, I've caught myself a few times hitting some rough RR tracks faster than I would have liked but no problems. The dry grip these have I think are super!

I've driven the dunlops in light snow, slushy, and compact snow conditions.

They are _ok_. I don't feel that they are worse than any other all season tires, but my tires are pretty new.. probably lots of tread left. I've only got 4330km (2700 miles) on those tires.

I'm not taking any risks going up to Whistler, so I'm buying winter tires.

Looking at the survey results on www.tirerack.com, out dunlops are rated that best in comparison to other high-performance all seasons =) =).

I must agree.. the handling feels awesome, but this is the first time i've driven 195 wheels on a small car =).

I've been using the SP5000Ms so far in the snow and ice, and I have found them to be as good if not better than any other all season tire that I've used, and these are the only performance ones I have had. I have lots of tread too, but I don't think I'll be bothering to change to winters this year, even for going out to Banff.

I have winters on my other car, and I don't feel much less secure with the P5 with the performace all seasons.

Dale.
