Question 1st Gen Protege Wheels

What size wheels would fit on a 90 Lx Protege? I was going to go with some 17x7's but is this ok on my stock Pro? Any suggestions and comments would help. Thnx.

I have 16x7's (+42mm offset) wrapped in 205/40/16's with the 2" sprint springs and they fit fine. I've never had any rubbing. It looks like I could fit 205/45/16's with no problem. I think groharlem has 17x7 on his car but Im not sure.

I'm running 17x7.5 wheels with 205/40 R17 tires. Fit fine. Don't rub at all.

How wide of tire can you have on the first gen pro. For the front is 9in is that to wide. How about the back?
