husky / mohawk gas

I've been a firm supporter of mohawk/husky ever since they started offering the AMA thing, and since then, that's all the escort and my P5 have gotten as gas.

Is their gas OK for the p5? I read in the manual that we shouldn't be using ethenol blended gas, but i've been using it from tank #2 (#1 was provided by the stealership) and at tank # 35 i haven't had any problems yet (yes i keep track).. Do I have long term issues to worry about?

I know a while back mohawk/husky had a string of bad gas that was found to gum up engines, but i would think they've gotten past that. They wouldn't still be here if they hadn't, right?

Anyway, opinions, comments, questions are all welcome!!

PS - for those that didn't know - show your AMA card at any husky/mohawk and you'll get 3% of your purchase applied towards your next ama renewal.. last year i had almost my whole membership paid for just from buying gas!

Ya, that's where I go too, unless I can find a savings somewhere else. My last 2 full tanks have been at Co-op because it's 5 cents cheaper (66.3 cents/litre) than where I would get it.

Richard,

Not that I think your blowing smoke or anything.. but this setup sounds almost illegal??? Do you know of any way I can find out more infomation about this?

Also.. is Imperial Esso? or are they on the crappy gas list too?

I said it sounds "almost" illegal..

If the big-three get rid of this gas because the octane levels aren't high enough.. it doesn't seem right for other companies to buy it, dump in a bit of goo, and call it the same thing.. I realize mohawk admits their gas has different stuff in it... but most of the other gas companies don't do they?

When I was buying my car, I was talking to the sales guy about environmentally friendlier things I could do with my car.. Mohawk certainly presents the image that they're gas is cleaner and stuff, but from what the sales guy said, and what I've read/heard since then from looking into it, is that mohawks gas is crap.

I looked into higher octane gases but read that my car might actually be less environmentally friendly because it's not "optimized" for those gases.. so I've been gathering information from wherever I can, since I haven't yet found an impartial chemical engineer who knows about cars to sit down with and ask a million questions about gas and synthetic oil and stuff .

This is a topic that I don't know much about, that's why my comments might not make any sense to those of you who are knowledgable about it, but am very interested in learning as much as possible.

Redline SI-1 Fuel System Cleaner eh... something new to read about .. somewhere along the line I was also told not to pour any extra stuff into my car..

I assume running this stuff through my car will clean it out and make it burn gas cleaner??

Does anything bad happen if I can't drive it all out at once?

Dawn
P.S. Sorry Jas.. I've gone totally off your topic now..
