GB: AEM ecu for 2.0L Protege starts NOW

Ladies and Gentleman for those in "the know" there has been a lot of discussion about an actual USEABLE ems (engine management system) for the proteges. It seems we as a community are crippled by the horrible tuning and restrictions put on us by the ECU. This is no longer the case. Wagner Motorsports is starting it's pre-sell on the AEM ecu at special group buy pricing. Before I get into pricing I want to explain further what the AEM can do.

The AEM ecu is one of the most popular EMS units in the world due to it's full controll over EVERY aspect of the car. It is super easy to tune (although you won't see me trying to tinker with it!) and it can be the single most important thing you ever add to your protege. The AEM will controll all of your standard ammenities such as AC, stereo, etc...all of the creature comforts you have now will still be there. On top of this it will give the end user full control over fuel mapping, ignition timing, full coil controll, full MAF control, emissions control, BUILT-IN DYNO!!, etc. Any modification you have made to your car will be enhanced by this unit and I don't mean just a little. Your AEM will be custom tuned to your specific mods prior to being shipped out to you. When you order is placed you will have to list the mod's you've made and what gas you plan on running. The AEM is pre-programmed for 93 octane. Wagner Motorsports Will provide FREE software upgrades as you continue to modify your vehicle so you are not stuck with your initial tuning maps. This will be free for as long as you own the unit.

What is included:

* AEM plug and play ECU

* custom wiring harness for the mazda protege (no splicing needed)

* exhaust cam gear (must be replaced....pm me for more info)

* pre-set tuning map designed for YOUR car

* Lifetime FREE software upgrades

* Discounted rate of $100 for a new harness should you want to transfer it into another vehicle.

* Buy-Back program should you decide not to use the ecu anymore (details to be finalized)

* The ability to no longer feel hesitation/stumble/bad mileage/ sluggish acceleration/ no top-end power

The group buy starts today and interested parties (SERIOUSLY INTERESTED) should sign up under my name as I do. Please keep my thread clean so new buyers will not have to dig through junk to get new info. Thanks.

1. Roddimus Prime (paid)
2.
3.
4.
5.

As with my cam GB, 5 buyers are needed to retain special GB pricing.

GROUP BUY SPECIAL $1495
REATIL COST $1595

I also have two different options of wideband controlers for those with rubo cars (msp's /mp3/p5 turbos). These will work in-line with the AEM to actually control knock and timing, etc...THE ULTIMATE IN TURBO TUNING! Also, the AEM will control boost if you purchase an additonal boost solenoid and some vaccuum line for about $30. For those interested in the wideband i will provide full details through pm...general details are:

regular Wideband controller $250
Eugo WB with display 1V (controlled by AEM) $410w/free shipping

I am definately interested now because I saw some of the additional goodies coming along with the ECU. But a couple things are going to hinder me for a bit. 1) Cash flow is a bit on the slow side and 2) Im kinda in the process of switching jobs so I have to see what my money situation is going to be like. But other than that I am definately interested. Just a question though: once the 1.6 liter ECU gets made, how am I going to get a replacement exhaust cam gear if none are available for my engine size Pro?

The ecu is universal....it will plug and play on your car (with the exception of the cam gear) and work just fine. The ECU has been optimized and tuned specificaly for use on the 2.0L motor so it will see a bigger performance increase than an un-tuned 1.6L.

To tune for a 1.6L I wouldn't expect it to take more than a week once the shop is able to locate a test mule. Remember, like I stated in the description this ECU is fully transferable to almost any other car on the road. If you felt comfortable with it you could tune it yourself.

As for the cam gear, I'm unsure how that will be approached. The reason for the new cam gear on the 2.0L motor is that it has 3 magnetic pick-ups that send signals to the stock ecu. the AEM will only see one pick-up so a new cam gear has to be custom machined specfically for this. This may be very detrimental to putting it into your car if you have the same cam-gear situation....if you dont it will be strictly p&p!

So if I get lucky enough to find cam gears, where could I get it machined to work in conjunction with the AEM ECU?

what I'm saying is you may not need any cam gears. More research needs to be done to find out what you have before you start worrying about where you're going to get stuff....If you need a cam gear amchined we will pull one from a wrecked car and have it made for you.

Oh okay, now I gotcha. So as it turns out, the gear may not be necessary and I could just keep my stock ones, correct?

yup yup....we'll have to look into it deeper, but without another 1.6L protege near me my hands are tied.

Wait until my website gets up.....I'm going to have a little bit of everything for the ro-to-ge.

I've spent a lot of money buying products to help me provide for this community. I just hope some of you guys actually help me back out and purchase some of this stuff. I spent close to $7K this month alone in upgrading my powdercoating and stocking new parts.
