Illinois Meet #2

Lets begin planning meet #2. I volunteer to be the central contact person.

Please email me to be added to the distribution list, at:

speedypt@attbi.com

I think we should be shooting for early to mid-june, picking a better landmark, and forming more "weather-proof" plans. Right?

The only emails you will receive from me will those related to the meet.

Dale, can I count on you to be my back up planner?

Regards and hopeful we can put this one together correctly,

Pete

ILMP5 April-29th-2002 08:53 AM

count me in, e-mail addy: cktmbz@yahoo.com

webmaster April-29th-2002 09:24 AM

i should be walking w/o support in a week or so .. so you could probably count me in this time :)

Edit: whoa  what the hell happened to like 220 of my posts???? i have 580 now .. damn this is the second time this has happened .. lol

chiproes April-29th-2002 09:57 AM

Pete: I'll be happy to help in any way I can.

Webmaster: Hope the surgery went well, and that you're feeling better.

SLPRProtege: Hope you chime in here with a date preference, since the last meet wasn't at a good time for you.

Right now, any weekend in June looks good for me.

Green Skanka April-29th-2002 11:53 AM

Hey Pete, keep me informed on the second one and hopefully it wont be me you and Dale again....
My e-mail is: greenskank@aol.com

Eric F April-29th-2002 11:58 AM

Sorry people, I blew it. :( I got over ambitious Saturday morning, as I have a tendency to do, and started working on the car in the morning. Well, to make a long story short, I didn't get the car back together until almost 3pm, and I'm about a hour away from the meeting site. Sorry it didn't turn out as planned. I'm definitely going to make the next one. Someone remind me not to do anything to the car that day next time. Pete and Dale, thanks for organizing the meets, I sent my info already. One suggestion, could we add our locations and find a central site for everyone? I tend to get lost when I can't see the lake. ;)

chitownmp3 April-29th-2002 08:06 PM

I'm in! Yes better landmarks please!:D
addy is mazdatunerz@yahoo.com

Green Skanka April-30th-2002 12:41 AM

Pete, just a thought.... For the second one you should set up signs like on the side of the road, or wherever it'll be so everybody knows the exact location..... So that it wont be just the 3 of us here, and 6 people there if ya catch my drift.....

chiproes April-30th-2002 04:01 PM

Pat: yeah, I had been thinking of that, too...wonder if that would be do-able. We'll have to see what location we come up with next time...hopefully it will be easier for all of us to find.

Eric F May-1st-2002 10:43 AM

I closed the other Chicago area meet thread to prevent confusion. Have we picked a date for the next meet yet? Sooner the better for me, since I blew it and missed the last one. No working on the car the day of the meet this time...

SLPRprotege May-2nd-2002 04:57 PM

Anytime in June is good for me. Just set a date earily so no other plans are made on that date. I will be in DeKalb this summer. I am working in Hampshire and Addison for MinuteMan International Inc. So just throw a date out there and lets start the whole thing going. Another idea, exchange phone numbers so what happened at Busse woods won't happen again.
My address is pathansen@hotmail.com.

speedypt May-9th-2002 12:57 AM

Date for Meet #2

How about Saturday June 8th, 3pm. Location to be determined.

Chime in and speak up.

Pete

Green Skanka May-9th-2002 01:20 AM

That's cool, as of right now i have no important things to do on that day, and any ideas on where we might hold this meet?????

chiproes May-9th-2002 12:01 PM

June 8th looks good to me.

SLPRProtege: Does that look good to you?????

fencepost May-9th-2002 03:20 PM

Looks good, IF....

June 8 looks good to me, if we can do it out in the NW suburbs (Busse Woods would be ideal). I'm going to be at a science fiction convention at the Hyatt across from Woodfield all that weekend otherwise.

chitownmp3 May-10th-2002 11:44 PM

sounds good! Busse woods sounds good also !:bt:
I just have to make sure I go to the right one:doh:

Green Skanka May-11th-2002 02:38 AM

Bussee woods is cool with me, but where in there are we gonna have this?????

fencepost May-11th-2002 10:19 AM

Well, there's a very nicely done map here: http://pages.ripco.net/~jwn/busse.gif that we can use as reference (it's not included due to its size).

If we want maximum visibility, we can try for the entrance at the east end of Higgins (near the first shelter) or at the west end of Higgins, staying west and going for the first shelter there. We almost certainly won't get shelters unless the weather's so bad that the people with plans abandon them.

The circle closest to the fishing wall might also be good. It's roughly centered vertically on the map and closer to the west edge - you get to it from the west entrance on Higgins, then follow the road around.

SLPRprotege May-15th-2002 12:48 PM

June 8th is good for me too.

chiproes May-15th-2002 01:35 PM

Yay! Good to hear from you, Patrick. I tried e-mailing you last week to ask about the 8th, but it bounced back...mailbox full or something.

June 8th it is...now we just need to get the location pinned down.

speedypt May-15th-2002 11:32 PM

Location for Chicago meet.

I suggest we meet somewhere at a store, and then migrate over to the Busse Woods. That way there are no problems.

I suggest we meet at Starbucks Coffee in Streets of Woodfield. It's still near 290/53 and Higgins (Rt.72) intersection, and is easy to find. If you can find Woodfield Mall, you can find Streets of Woodfield mall. It's basically next door. There is also a Galayan's Sports in that same mall.

If everyone is okay with that, I can post an address and all can pull a "driving directions" from your own front door to that Starbucks and no one will get lost.

Also, we need to exchange cell phone numbers so that we can all meet up in the event of a miscommunication.

I have my car back and am totally pumped up for this meet!!!

Pete

Green Skanka May-16th-2002 01:06 AM

that's not a bad idea, and i'll be able to get some starbucks coffee when i wake up at 3..... LoL

ILMP5 May-17th-2002 09:59 AM

sounds good just let me know when and where and I am there!

SLPRprotege May-17th-2002 12:16 PM

Yeah my mailbox was full. Hotmail took the liberty of deleting all my stuff. I am in the process of getting it back from them though. So I might get your email eventually. lol
The 8th of JUne will work for me. Just give good enough directions to me on where in Busse Woods. I have never been there before and we don't want what happened last time to happen again.

fencepost May-18th-2002 12:46 PM

Meeting at a store is fine, but we should probably still decide on a spot in advance (or be sure several cell-phone numbers are available) for folks who show up late.

chitownmp3 May-19th-2002 05:25 PM

sounds like a really good idea. I am ready and waiting!:D

speedypt May-21st-2002 02:01 AM

CAPP II, June 8th, 3:00pm

(The following is a copy of the email sent to those who showed interest in the June 8th CAPP meet ...AND.... sent me their email address. If you would like to receive future updates, please send me an email to speedypt@attbi.com and I will add you to the list. If you received the actual email, you're already on the list!!!)

June 8th is a lock! Lets plan to meet at Starbuck's in Streets of Woodfield. Address below:

Streets of Woodfield
601 North Martingale Road
Schaumburg, IL 60173
(847) 605-0476

You can each run a Mapquest driving directions to get directions to the store. From there we take over a location at Busse Woods. I will try to reserve a shelter so we can meet rain or shine. If this crap-ass Chicago weather ever warms up, we can have a great time.

I will definitely be cooking this time, and since we are meeting at 3pm, I can try to have it ready by about 1/2 hour into the meet.

If any of you know the email address of someone you want to be on the distribution list for this meet, email me and I'll add them to the list and send them updates.

I will also be sending GroHarlem the info to have it placed on his webpage for more interest! I'd love to have a decent picnic so that East Coast group on Edmunds and the other places don't get all the glory!!!

I don't want to sound commercialized....but....if you want to be removed from the distribution list....just let me know. I will take you off immediately.

Regards,

Pete

SLPRprotege May-21st-2002 07:15 AM

Im there, dude.

Green Skanka May-28th-2002 02:17 AM

Ok Yall, you guys are gonna laugh ure arse's off at the meet. So I decided to take off the ugly outside door trim and it left the "tape" stuck to the car. I tried just about everything to get it off. Heat gun, goo-gone, adhesive remover, bug and tar remover, and still it wont come off, so if i dont find something that works yall are gonna have a good laugh........

Dang, Pat...that sucks. I know you've probably already checked, but aren't there any threads here at pclub that address that issue? I'm sure you're not the first person to have this problem.

And no, since you didn't laugh at my Hello Kitty mirror, I won't laugh at the tape on your doors.

:D :D

SLPRprotege May-28th-2002 12:49 PM

Are we going to get a sign up sheet of who is going to bring what for the cookout?
And where has Eric F been? I haven't seen him in a while.

chiproes May-28th-2002 08:28 PM

Well, I'm in for fruit salad.

Eric, are you out there? I noticed that the Midwestern Council of SCCA is having autocross school on June 8th...you're not ditching us for that, are you?

speedypt May-29th-2002 01:43 AM

Food for the meet

I'm bringing my grill and two chickens....

Who's bringing what else?

Pat (Green Skanka) try some "denatured alcohol" solvent. Shouldn't hurt the paint and works wonders on that type of stuff. You can get it at ACE or Sears Hardware.

SLPR....I will bring those PIAA's for you (just to ensure you are there!)

CELL PHONES!!!! I will send out my cell phone number very soon. Please email yours back to me so we can coordinate as needed. Dale...this means you have to actually turn yours on... :-)

See y'all on the 8th @ 3pm!!!

Pete

SLPRprotege May-29th-2002 07:14 AM

I will bring this awesome taco salad that I make. It will knock your socks off. Almost as good as a 11 sec protege.:)
Also I was thinking....Is it the best thing to meet at Starbuck's on a Saturday afternoon. Woodfield gets pretty crowded and those nice men in the blue tend to be out more also. Just something I was thinking of.

chitownmp3 May-29th-2002 10:04 PM

The councils june 8th school has been booked for months, a friend of mine is an instuctor.
I also agree ,the woodfield renta cops bugged us last meet. We hid from the rain there last meet.
But I'll risk it! Looking forward to meeting all of you!:D

speedypt May-30th-2002 01:39 AM

Meet location....

I am okay with selecting an alternate location, I chose Starbuck's as it is easy to find. We are only meeting there to form up, then we can move over to Busse Woods. When you say bugged you...what do you mean?

We could meet at my house in Arlington Heights, and then head over to Lake Arlington. Only problem there is no barbequeing and few picnic tables.

If someone has somewhere particular in mind, please speak up. I (and hopefully everyone here) is open to all ideas!

Pete

Eric F May-31st-2002 08:51 AM

No, I'm not missing this meet. I've just been hibernating. Thanks Pat, for waking me up. ;)

chitownmp3 May-31st-2002 09:04 PM

The renta cops were only doing thier job, "hey what are you guys doing?" dont cause trouble kinda thing. The left us alone after we explained our predicament.
I'm up for meeting any place the general consensus can agree on!:D

chiproes May-31st-2002 11:41 PM

Pete: Do we have a shelter for Busse Woods yet?

If yes, I say we go with your original plan of meeting at Starbucks (and exchanging cell numbers, of course).

I'm not sure how the cops could hassle us as long as we are in Starbucks quietly minding our own business for an hour or so, and not blasting our car stereos while we change our oil in the parking lot or whatever.

Glad you woke up, Eric.

Now, where's Webmaster???

SLPRprotege June-3rd-2002 07:29 AM

How big of a grill are you bringing pete? Do we need another one? Will we need more meat? I could bring hamburgers too. We need to make sure we have enough food for everyone that is going to be there.

This is all that people have said so far.
Me - Taco Salad (hamburgers?)
Speedypt - Grill & 2 dead yard birds
Chiproes - Fruit Salad

And still haven't heard from you guys, about bring something.

EricF ?
Green Sanka ?
Webmaster ?
chitownmp3 ?
fencepost ?

What happened to those who would be back from school this summer? Where are they all at?
