I can bring anything I can drop by a grocery store and pick up right before the meet - I'm not going to be at home that weekend, I'm going to be at a SF convention at the Hyatt just north of Woodfield, so no refrigeration or good storage.
I could also do a cooler full of soft drinks or something along those lines. |
hey what time is the meet?
|
What would yall like me to bring is the question, just ask, and i shall produce, on a reasonale level...

Cell phone numbers
I've sent mine out via email to those I can.
Grill is a Weber 22" Grill, if someone has a Smokey Joe as well that would be good. The chicken has to cook for about 1.5 hours, but I could probably push that to 1:10 if I really heat up the coals. Weather permitting, my wife and daughter will be there as well. Come to think of it...I think I will cook the chickens the night before and just warm them up on the grill. That way we won't need a second grill. (The chicken tastes great this way too....no negative effect on flavor or tenderness!) I will bring some plates, can someone bring plasticware (Go to Wendy's for lunch and take a bunch!) and napkins and cups? I looked into the shelter and it's very expensive. Only like $35 to rent it, but you have to have a $1,000,000 liability insurance policy if you want to have a group outing (officially). I checked it out and the policy would be $95!!!! So.........we'll just commandier a shelter once we get there. Dale said over at Yahoo that she was looking forward to this meet...let me tell you....she's not the only one! See you all Saturday at 3:00p at Starbucks, Streets of Woodfield (not actually inside Woodfield but next to Galyan's Sports). Pete |
I have Eric bringing cups and plates and napkins. Anyone else who is interested in coming, bring something to pass. Was the decision made that I needed to bring hamburgers?
|

Visitors allowed?
Hey I was hoping to be in the area this weeked, i went to school down south of chicago but i am living in northern MI for now. I was wondering if you all would mind an out of state visitor to the pro gathering. I would love to see some of what you all have done and get some ideas on stuff I can do with my car.
|
You should definitely join us, Mr. 78.
:) |
might not be coming
I just had a really fucking shitty day. my car after work started having the check engine light flash and it kept switching from flashing to staying on steady. Also it is having problems going up large hills and accelerating after 50. So unless i can find somewhere to look at it i'm stuck. Problem is there is no where around here that works on mazda's and I don't know any place open late friday or at all satureday that will look at my car. I am still crossing my fingers and praying that i can find someone that can work on my car. if any of you have any ideas let me know.
|
Where are you? There are a fair number of Mazda dealers in the area if you want a dealer.

Final details
I have the chicken ready to cook tomorrow night to bring on Saturday. I am bringing the grill for anyone who wants to cook something else.
I will try to be at Starbucks almost immediately after work (about 1:30pm -1:45pm. If you would like to show up early, please do! I think we'll wait about 30 to 45 mins then head over to Busse. In the event of inclement weather, I volunteer my house for the get together. I live about 10 mins away and there's plenty of street parking near my house to accomodate all attendees if needed. Weather report looks great though!!! Call me on cell phone tomorrow after 5pm if any last minute needs. Regards, Pete |
Hey Pete, i'll probabally show up a little early also and weather is supposed to be perfect, but we do lie in chicago so with our luck it'll proabally start snowing........ LoL

CAPP II...great time!
In brief...CAPP II was a great success!
10 Proteges in all. '92 LX, '97 LX, 3-2000 ES's, 2001 MP3, and 4-2002 P5's (all different colors). No hiccups in meeting, we all found each other right away (Thanks Starbucks). Caravaned over to Busse Woods Forest Preserve and set up. Good food (Patrick's Taco Salad was great! My chicken was pretty good if I may brag!) and great company. All attendees were very friendly and the information was abundant! Highlights of the cars? Patrick's 92 LX. Nice Parada tires and rims. Good example of a first-gen Pat's 97 LX. Shocking green paint on emblem and engine bay. Unusual but effective and different! Eric's 2000 ES. Where to start? Suspension mods, cabin mods, Altezza taillights, great rims and S-03 tires, WELL DONE gauge package, and plenty of technical know-how. Dale 2000 ES. Slightly damp interior (She'll explain....) Hello Kitty rear view mirror, washed up for the event! Pete's 2000 ES. Shining bright with new front end and freshly Meguiar'ed paint! Kory's 2001 MP3. WOW!!! Already modded and really glass-like paint. Pride in ownership really shows here! Color accented engine bay. Conrad's 2002 Red P5. Possibly the most modified. Rims, clear side markers, MP5 badges like the MP3, 2.5" lowered, soundsystem galore, interior dyed similar to MP3, and on and on and on... Alan's 2002 Yellow P5. Nice Magnetic bra and Weatherflectors. Newest Pro at the meet at 1 month old! Carl's 2002 Black P5. Beautiful Black paint. (Didn't get to check out the mods too well on this one) Angel's Silver P5. Mesh grills, killer sound AND Video system! Chrome alloys. The "Tree-Cops" were out in force issuing citations to speeders (none to our group thankfully!), removing dangerous glass bottles, and talking to skating girls! They even arrested someone right across from us! Pete's wife Angie and daughter Jillian were both in attendance. Jillian best quote "Daddy...all the cars are so much alike! Just like in the Zoom Zoom commercial!!!" I especially would like to thank Angie for being such a good sport. She's not into the whole car thing, but she know how much I enjoy it and stuck it out the whole picnic, even being 7 months pregnant! There was also an abundance of "Mariachi-type" music. And if I ever hear an Ice Cream truck play that G.D. "Boom Boom ain't it great to be crazy" song again, for nearly 25 minutes just by our meet...I'm going nuts!!! Don't miss the pic of the TexMex Ricemobile. It's a hoot! Next up for the Chicago owners is a scheduled drive or maybe a dedicated auto-cross outing? Time will tell! All in all the day was great, the weather warm and sunny, and plenty of food and beverages for all. Thanks to those who attended! I had a great time! Regards, Pete |

I just wanted to let you guys all know that I had a blast. I have also been scared from the ice creame truck music, Pete. Pat, no problem on driving you to get your extra key. At least the car was not stolen. Let keep this CAPP thing going.....
|
Ditto. The meet was great and I'd like to thank Pete, Dale and anyone else that helped, for all there organization of the meet. This time everyone was together and I managed not to miss it. Let's have another one soon. Does anyone have any mods they want to have done, or want to see some details of mods to other cars? It might be nice to spend some time on the actual cars if anyone has a place available to tinker with them. I'll volunteer, but I'm probably too far East for most you to drive to. :D

off topic, but who cares....
Guess how many protege's i saw today when i went to Indiana to get fireworks???? I saw a blue 2nd gen and a white 1st gen on the way there, say a Yellow and a Blue MP5, a Blue MP3, a white 2nd gen and a Silver 3rd gen on the way back. It made me really happy. :D Oh, eric, you'll be happy to know that I rewired the wires for my fog/driving lights, there's a grommet in the wheel-well that i ran it through and put in a fuse......... |

Good job, Pat! We wouldn't want to hear about any Proteges going up in flames. ;)
