anyone in mn?

i was just wondering how many people on this site are from minnesota. if there are, we should all try and get somethin going. maybe a get together at a restaurant or something. i know it'd be nice to have some fellow pro' love in minnesota.

sileighty21 January-26th-2003 10:29 AM

i live in lakeville, but i go to school at normandale in bloomington. that's cool i'm not the only one on here. are there any other 1st gens though? what gen rx7 is it?

ukroadracer January-30th-2003 07:16 PM

I live in Brooklyn Park, Usually I go cruising down University Ave in the Summer, I work at Morries and there are about 5 of us with Pro's and P5's so we are always looking for something to do.
Maybe Pro Kart?:)

jlanger January-31st-2003 12:12 AM

Well I've got two pro's to meet with (though my wife most likely wouldn't show  ) Anway I'd be up for a meet for sure once the weather warmed up. It'd be cool to get some MS and MP3 people going too. Anyone know about national meets? One thing I did like about the countour site was that they did ahve regular meets and a nice number of people showed up. National meets are a great excuse for road trips. Anway shout out some ideas. In the summer University Ave in St. Paul is a pretty cool area to scope out nice cars and such but I'm unsure of the other places in the area.

ukroadracer February-1st-2003 07:11 PM

Has anyone been to ProKart? I was there a few weeks ago and there was a midnight blue p5 there with mesh grill, exhaust and springs, Maybe we can all go to one of there locations.

jlanger February-1st-2003 10:39 PM

[QUOTE]OH, in august we could all road trip up to bemiji to watch the ojibwe forest pro rally, whjich I will be going to anyways. we can watch Eric rally in his MP3

Sounds like a Protege Road trip. Do you know when the dates and times are? I'd like to go to a Rally Race adn see what its like. Anyway I've done the University thing to check out the muscle cars and laugh at soem of the wanna be's. However, It's also cool to see some of the real serious tuners, there are some car fanatics out there. Anyway when anyone gets a notion to just anounce a meet. BTW what is Prokart?

ukroadracer February-2nd-2003 01:22 PM

ProKart

ProKart is an indoor go-kart track, they have 3 locations. It's fun, they can get up to 35mph, it's a bit of a work out. It costs about $15-$18 depending if you are a member.

Lets go!!!!!

mspRep February-6th-2003 03:50 PM

Whats up kids! Say I think a bunch of us should get together,
ProKart would be a good idea.

By the way I have two P5s, one is yellow with a bunch of junk
done to it, and the blue one is robo-stock.

jlanger February-6th-2003 06:09 PM

I think that msprep should bring a msp pro to a meet for a looksie!

TheDano February-8th-2003 01:35 PM

another MN P5 owner here!...i would love to hook up with the rest of the gang when the weather gets warmer -- hopefully we'll get rid of this snow sometime before july (=

Kopp0041 February-10th-2003 10:36 AM

MN

I got an 03 ES and would love to meet with everyone to discuss mods, group buys, and find out if any of us can get any deals on extras for our cars. I'd be game for just about anything.
B

Kopp0041 February-10th-2003 12:20 PM

Autocross??

What is it, and what's it all about? Is this for a someone who has never raced (outside of stoplights) before? What is the cost to participate/watch? What are the most common mods at an event like this? Would I stand a chance (AEM intake & R&B catback 'soon')? I would love to know more, the website didn't seem to have a lot on it.

Kopp0041 February-10th-2003 04:36 PM

Sounds cool, you'll have to keep me informed with when the events are, I'm very interested.

What about everyone else in MN. Is anyone else interested in this autocross thing?

Finally, is there anyone who works at a dealer in MN that would be able to get the front lip, rear bumper and side sills for the price that mazdastuff.com or performancebuyersclub.com is offering? I'd like to avoid the shipping costs, plus I'd need someone to paint them and install/help me install them. I know this should be another forum, but since we've got everyones attention I thought i'd ask.

ukroadracer February-11th-2003 06:33 AM

I usually go to the AARRF events but not since I got my P5, They are fairly well run, it's a nice way to get some cheap track time. I road race in Chicago and they also have a high speed autocross series which I might compete in.

They are well worth doing.

ukroadracer February-11th-2003 06:44 AM

I also work at Morries but I am not sure what kind of prices you have seen for the parts you are looking for.

Kopp0041 February-11th-2003 10:34 AM

The parts are all in the protege accessories brochure and are listed below. These are the prices poster on mazdastuff.com (Mazda South dealer in Austin, TX).
Front Air Dam - 0000-86-C01_-00 - $251
Rear Bumper Skirt Kit - 0000-8M-C16 - 200 (I think it is on national backorder due to the MSP, but mazdaformance.com has them instock.)
Side Sill Kit - B30K-V4-910F - $160

I'm hoping to get similar prices from a local dealer so that I don't have to worry about shipping. I beleive these all come primed and need to be painted. Would you have any idea of the cost to paint them Laser Blue? Would you have any idea of the cost to install them? OR, would you be willing to meet some weekend and help with install? If I could get a good deal from Morries, I would consider putting thier licence plate frame on with there name for promotion.

ukroadracer February-11th-2003 10:34 PM

I checked into the prices and I wouldn't be able to get them for you any cheaper, sorry.

Kopp0041 February-12th-2003 09:41 AM

Would you be able to get them for the prices I listed above?

ukroadracer February-14th-2003 03:12 PM

Sorry, I can't get them any cheaper or even for those prices. List price is pretty high:mad:

I could probably help you put them on though. Make sure you test fit everything before you paint it. It's hard to send stuff back when it"s blue;)

Kopp0041 February-17th-2003 09:26 AM

Thanks for trying and for offering to help. I might have to wait till spring, we'll see.

islandpro March-15th-2003 12:20 PM

sileighty21 April-3rd-2003 08:26 PM

There is an autocross this SUNDAY april 6 at midway stadium
what time? i might have to go check things out.

sileighty21 April-3rd-2003 08:38 PM

i wasn't planning on racing, i gotta clutch that's about 3 shifts away from going i think so i gotta be nice to it. i'm about 75% sure i'll show up and see how things operate though. maybe later in the year, or when i get my clutch done i'll enter a race.

sileighty21 April-3rd-2003 09:03 PM

we'll see what happens at the casino tonite. i'm a little short on cash so if i win i might think about it. plus i'm not sure what class i'd be in. and what about getting a number?

good0177 April-4th-2003 12:19 AM

What's up MN Protege owners!

Hey guys. I am a new member to the board and so far am stoked about all the cool shiznit surrounding the Mazda scene. I bought a 5 last summer and pretty much just started adding things to it. Nothing major. I would love to cruise around with some other 5 owners and swap upgrade ideas and stuff. Let me know. I live in Eagan and can be found cruising pretty much everywhere. By the way f'in Xtreme Auto Trenz closed down! I was going to have them put a graphics kit on my car. Those bastards. Peace.

Kopp0041 April-4th-2003 02:54 PM

I think I'm going to try and make it to Midway and check it out. Don't think I race either, Dry walling all weekend. Although, you never know.

Are you still going to be at Midaway? Perhaps we can meet up? I still don't think I'm going to race, but I'm going to check it out. I'm thinking I'll be there around 10.

sileighty21 April-5th-2003 12:08 PM

i'm pretty sure i'm gonna go just to watch. i don't have the funds right now to race, but maybe the next time. how does it work if it's like snowing out or whatever? are these rain/snow/shine/hot/cold events?

Dima April-13th-2003 01:40 AM

has anyone in MN tryed to swap body parts from a 5 to a sedan? 'Cause if you did, i would realllllllllly like to ask you a couple of questions.

Kopp0041 April-13th-2003 07:42 AM

like what kind of body parts? if you want the front end, check autoexe, the P5 will not be a direct swap. What else are you thinking?

good0177 April-13th-2003 01:58 PM

Anyone in twin cities want to cruise?

Hey the weather is getting warmer and that means cruising around the lakes with our P5s. I was wondering if anyone is in the twin cities who may want to cruise Calhoun lakes and show everyone what the P5s should look like. Let me know and keep an eye out for a red P5 with Altezzas and flames. That's me. Peace.

Dima April-13th-2003 09:50 PM

 How does it look on ES? cause I could not find AutoExe for US version/ there is one shown on "Euro ES"/ I am too lazy to look for it on the net. Can you drop the link for me, please? As far as I know Euro P looks like MP3/speed. Does the rear p5 bumper fit onto ES?????? It would be better than a "bolt on part". Oh, I almost forgot, your ride will look sharper if you make/ buy silver leather shift boot. it is looking good in my ES and P5 will look even better, cause you got that silver cup holder trim(es' black)

Standard April-13th-2003 10:19 PM

sup guys :) I'll be down for some cruising after I get my Fiero outta the shop. The only thing special about my pro' is the two 10's in the back lol.

good0177 April-14th-2003 02:59 AM

Hey, email me at good0177@tc.umn.edu to see if we can hook up and cruise the lakes. I can show you some things I did to my P5 and I can see what you did. Then you can bump around the lakes, and I can just look good in my ride. Should be fun. I am trying to get more p5s out there too. Would be cool if we could line up our cars along Calhoun like the crotch-rockets do. peace out.

good0177 April-14th-2003 10:16 AM

Let's ride

Is that Porky's in St. Paul? I can be there Friday night. That would be cool with me. I didn't do too much to my ride though. I have my Skuhk2 exhaust coming this week. Perhaps that will be on by Friday. Stock sucks! Still, wold like to see other MN P5s for mod. ideas. Let me know, I'm down to clown around in town...err...I'll stop now. Peace out.

Kopp0041 April-14th-2003 10:24 AM

I'm Game

I'd love to meet up of Fri and do some crusing. Only thing is, I got an ES, not a pro, but I've done some good mods.

As far as the autoexe front bumper, check: http://www.protegeclub.com/forum/sho...hlight=autoexe and pm Richie. He'll get you everything you want. The pics are on the pro5, but he imports a lot from japan.

Check my previous message for the link. the rear p5 will not fit, but check mazdastuff for the rear bumper skirt, it's the same as the MP3/MSP, and it is a bolt on part, only thing is, I think they are still on backorder. Do you got a pic of the shift boot? Where do get it? Who makes it? I think the best mod so far is the AEM air intake, I love how it sounds when it sucks the air in. Second would be the RB exhust, but it could be louder. I'm going to be painting my calipers yellow very soon, should like great with the blue.

Kopp0041 April-14th-2003 10:47 AM

Rock Falls Raceway

On April 19 Rock Falls Raceway is having a $35 Saturday Fun Race. I have to ceck the time, but I think it's during the day. This is a drag race course near Eau Claire, WI. I think it'd be sweet to show up there with a buch of pros and pro5s, and race. I'm going to call for more information. Is anyone interested?

Kopp0041 April-14th-2003 04:17 PM

Rock Falls Raceway

Here's the deal, this Sat. is a special $35 race day. It costs $10 per person to watch. Time trials start at 9am and go till noon. The eliminations start at noon and go till 5pm. If you want to race, you must have a helmet, but since the Pros are not the fastest car, there are no specifications on which type of helmet or any other restrictions. However, you cannot use any "electronic timers" this Sat. Anyone interested in going?

I'm game for Friday night, what time do you want to meet at Prokey's?

sileighty21 April-14th-2003 05:58 PM

i'd love to make it down friday nite, but i'm going to the twins and yankees game. should be a good one. maybe some other time though.
