The California Mazda Protege Meet poster is available for download on the site:

http://www.caliprotegemeet.1hwy.com

I have two posters: one color and one black and white. For file size and compatability purposes, I have saved the posters in PDF format. You will need Adobe's free Acrobat Reader to view, save, and print them. I have provided a link to Acrobat's download site just under the links for the posters.

Print them, make copies of them, and give them out to anyone you want. I will be placing them on the windshields of any Protege I see. I will also take them to the local Mazda dealers. Let's make this meet as successful as possible!

Also, for fun I have created a page with my car on it. On there are the pics of the clear cornering lamps I installed (from Asian market Ford Tierra - a rebadged Protege) which match the headlights absolutely perfectly! Also on there are pics of the new Injen Racing Division Cold Air Intake and the dyno results. Just find the "See my car" links from the main site.

For anyone else who wants to go to the meet, I have created an RSVP form on the site to make it as easy as possible to RSVP.

I hope to see everyone there!

Are you San Diego Pro owners going to the Ventura meet on June 16? I grew up in SD and will be at the meet. I am comming from Arizona.
I'm thinking about driving up to Ventura for the meet. I have to check my schedule for that weekend. Are there others from AZ that are thinking of driving out to Ventura county?

San Diego is a lot closer to Ventura than Arizona is... I am totally shocked I haven't received a better response from San Diego Protege owners (hint... hint...)!

Slikpro and myself are the only two San Diego guys heading up there so far. C'mon! It's only three hours!

Cool cali representin'!!!!

damn, this is my first time at protegeclub (i've been hangin' around protegetech the past 2 years or so) and i was surprised to see so many people from SAN DIEGO!! i'm originally from SD (national city, chula vista, del mar, vista, mission valley, north park....basically ALL over SD) but i'm currently livin' in new orleans for the next year and a half. i would love to fly out there for the meet but i start summer school at univ of new orleans next week, so i won't be able to make it. well let me know how it goes!

The California Mazda Protege Meet has been delayed until Saturday, June 29th.

There are three main benefits for this:

The meet will not be held on Father's Day.
Being held on Saturday (rather than Sunday) will allow more sufficient time to get back to work on Monday.
It will allow more people to come to the meet.
There will also be a small fee of $10 per vehicle. This will cover the expense of the application and permit fees imposed by the California Department of State Parks. Extra money will be used to purchase food and beverages. This fee will be collected at the meet.

The State Beach also requires a $2 entrance fee into the parking lot.

The website has been updated to reflect the recent changes. If you have already submitted an RSVP to the meet, please send me an e-mail stating that you have received the new date!

Hey All!

I'm going to autocross for the first time this Saturday (July 6th) at Qualcomm Stadium. Maybe a bunch of us could get together there! I have a large Mazda Motorsports banner I could bring.

Let me know! The Protege is perfect for autocross! Let's make our presence felt!

I am brand new to the world of Autocross, but I believe novices have to be there before 11:00AM to register and pass the technical inspection and go on the course walk. Here's the site to the local San Diego region:

http://www.sdr-solo2.com/

All of the information should be on this site. A helmet is required to run, but there are supposed to be loaners available. You must purchase a Solo II membership and number for the year for $15. Non SCCA members must pay $25 for this event.

All of the basic information is contained in the "Ready to start having fun?" link underneath the white running rabbit towards the bottom of the home page. It'll be a learning process...

I am going to empty out my car tonight. I believe you are not allowed to have any loose objects anywhere in the car. The Protege is in the "HS (H Stock)" class of cars, however modifications may land you in another class. I guess the best way to learn is to just jump in!

Well, just got back from the Auto-X. Wow! What fun!!

Hey [Cruzer], where were you? I saw your car there in the outer parking lot about 11:30 or so. I went to go get my car tech inspected and you were gone! Where did you go?

All of my runs were with an instructor. He drove the car on the second run. He kept commenting on how impressed he was with how the Protege rotates (transition, like in the slalom portions).

I can't wait until the next one?

Yah I was there, was that your red pro.. with an american flag on the bottom left corner.. I was thinking it was yours since it had clear corners. I first saw your car in the outer lot, then looked for you then went back to the lot and your car was gone. Well I had to leave early, I was there since 9am just to watch. Had to go to a birthday lunch party.. *Mine*.. So I couldn't stay for the novice run. But was great to see 2 Blue mp3's run. If you saw a guy with a KartBoy hat on.. that was me. Oh and I wanted badly to see the new Mini-coops run.. those bumble bees looked sweet. Well on protege subject.. I only saw yours, 2 pro5's, white 2001 sedan, and a 2gen sedan. I coudn't believe how miata's where there. Well what where your times,, curious.. and how did you do on the 4 zig zag type turns... Most people kept hitting the second set of cones. Well I can tell you had fun.. and I'll see you the next run.. Most likely I'll do that one... Maybe we can meet up earlier.. want to chat about how you did on the run.

well have a good one.

Another one is hooked. Too bad I couldn't make it. I just couldn't drag myself out of bed at 4:00am in order to make it in time for STS to run.

Did you happen to catch your instructor's name?
