i didn't personally take any, but i saw quite a few ppl snapping pics. I was busy installing Braden's sound system...sounded pretty good too, but that sub is just beat down and would sound so much better with a new one...

It was very professional, had an area of the parking lot coned off, we had personalized ID cards, parts and gift raffles, food, drink and of course, Protege's and 2 Sentra SE-R's. Everybody got a Mazda bag with a Mazda water bottle and CD holder. There were also a slew of Mazdaspeed and Zoom-Zoom stickers too. Beleive it or not, they were factory parts too...LOL My GF was nice enough to walk around and place a ProtegeClub.com California decal on everybody's car....just in case you were wondering where the hell it came from

Will is still sore about not bringing his car, beit a Mazda with a Ford body kit (Escort GT) as it would have been cool for ppl to see the set up he has, although very similar to David's, just minus the engine mods. Oh well next time...

I didn't get a chance to find out who belonged to the nice dark blue P5 w/CF this and CF that...nice, but not my style, BUT i thought it looked very clean. The CF was disguesed by the dark color and blended very nicely with the black wheels. Nice job.

We were missing some 2nd gens, i think only one showed up, and all the rest were 3rd gens (+P5's & MP3's) and 1st gens.

Next time i'll have more time to look at the cars and hang out more....no stereo installs

Ok enough rambling, didn't mean to write so much.......

Cone killer

Hey MazdaSpeedWest,

In looking at your signature photo above, I wondered....aren't you supposed to go around the cones ??

I can't believe I actually posted this - I need sleep.

wil, that's the perk they get for being so close to Mazda USA headquarter. And Jerry has, how do we say, 'inside connections' to Mazda folks, so he gets all the freebies!!

maybe we should invite someone that has the hookup with a dealer to join our little DC area Protege club?

hey hey hey!! 600th post!

I'm glad the meet was so successful! I would love to have made it but thanx to the Navy, I had duty that weekend, couldn't really leave San Diego area. Good to see Protege owners getting together, it's about time. Hopefully another meet will be in the works soon, maybe with some more 2nd Gens hopefully.

Seeing as how there were only 5 3rd gens who hung around for the raffle, all of them. Too bad you don't make parts for the 1st or 2nd gens.

Even though I didn't get any of the parts (1st gen---I got a Mazda banner), thanks for donating the parts. Nice to have the support.

Also, thanks to Tim from Mazda for the banners, CD cases, and stickers.

And especially, a big thanks to Jerry for organizing the event, getting all the stuff, and then cooking all the food.

Looking forward to the next one. If I can wake up early enough, I may make it to San Diego for the autocross on the 6th, but STS runs 1st, and I'm 150 miles away with a as-yet-undiagnosed sick engine.

Thanks everyone!!

I haven't been following the boards much since the meet (still recovering from that nasty sunburn! ). Unfortunately, I was so busy that I only snapped 5 pics. Anyone who has any, please send them in. I'm modifying the site to a more modern look and I'll get the pics up as soon as I get them.

John (slikpro) already had the Kartboy short shifter and bushings in his '99 LX. I tried it out, and MAN do those feel nice! If you have ever experienced a Miata's shift feel, this is pretty darn close! Unfortunately, I didn't keep any of the parts for myself, but I will definitely buy the set.

Thanks Tom, for donating the Kartboy parts! They were all sought after, but unfortunately, they would only fit 3rd Gens. Tom, if you guys make them for the 1st and 2nd Gen's, I bet you could sell lots since the aftermarket for them is really weak!

I want to start a California club with San Diego, Los Angeles, Bay Area, and Central chapters. I'm tossing around different names in my head... if you guys have any ideas for it, let me know! I don't think I want to use "Protege" in it because I want to include 323's, Protege's, and the upcoming 3's. Perhaps something with 3-series or 3-family or something that signifies the platform rather than the ever-changing names.

I'm glad to hear everyone had a good time! We will definitely have to do something like this again! Time to start working on Irvine (MNAO HQ)...

-Jerry
