TN/AL Meet - August 25, 2007

Just found this website. I plan meets on the mazdas247 site and the mazda3forums. I know it's kind of late, but if any of you guys would like to come out to it here are the directions:

July's meet kind of fizzled, but that's no excuse to slow down! The new meet will be August 25, 2007 in AL this month.

So what do you guys what to do? Location shouldn't be a problem, just get your butts to Hsv. I guess for preliminary plans would be to meet at the Adtran parking deck around 1pm.

If you guys like the movie thing ... I think the new Jet Li & Jason Statham movie, War, should be showing that weekend. It shouldn't be as long as Pirates, so taking up most of the afternoon wouldn't be a problem. I'd like to at least do about a 10-mile cruise around Huntsville as a group driving along some scenic/fun routes. I know bankhead parkway and cecil ashburn will be very very fun. I'll have to check out green mtn road to see if it is decent road condition-wise for those of us w/ altered suspensions We could either do Red Robin, or just order a bunch of pizzas & drinks and chill out at one of the nature trails/parks. Be sure to bring some money, because I'm not paying for more than 25% of the cost of food. ;D

I like the Adtran parking deck because it is vacant during the weekends and is an excellent spot to take pictures of the cars w/o other people/cars in the shot. Getting there is pretty easy. Also, if it's too hot we can move it to the lower level to get out of the sun ... or if it's raining. The only potential problem is that cops usually take their lunch breaks at the adjacent lot, so we must keep everything low key (no loud music, no revving, no speeding, etc.) if we don't want to get kicked out.

From the west, I-65..... take exit#340 east on to I-565 towards Huntsville (12miles), then take exit#14 and take Research Park Blvd North (2miles), then take the Bradford Drive West exit, turn right on Explorer, then left at the next traffic light onto Discovery drive. Parking deck will be on the left.

From points north and east .... head on I-565 west bound, then take exit#14 and take Research Park Blvd North (2miles), then take the Bradford Drive West exit, turn right on Explorer, then left at the next traffic light onto Discovery drive. Parking deck will be on the left.

For those that want to mapquest the parking deck from your location here's the mapquest link ... 531 Discovery Drive NW; Huntsville, AL 35806. Simply hit the "Directions To" link and enter your address and you will be given driving directions to the Adtran Parking Deck.

As for planned stuff to do....all I can think of is like a 15-mile tour of the scenic roads in Huntsville, then either lunch/dinner at a local restaurant or pizza and drinks at a local park, and then off to another nice scenic location for a photoshoot. Again, these plans are preliminary...so make some suggestions if you want to do something else (i.e. - bowling, play pool, movie, etc).

Caravan meet location for TN people is the best buy in Cool Springs. Start gathering at 10:30 am for a roll out at 11:00 am or if everyone is here we'll leave early. Here is the address:

Brentwood TN (Store 170)
1600 Galleria Blvd
Brentwood, TN 37027
Hope to see some new faces!

so you want us to drive 3-5 hours to go watch a movie? This makes no sense.

How much actual thought and planning went into this?

huntsville is only about an hour and a half from bham if you take 65, then you can get on the 565 bypass from there. The tennesse thing is a caravan to huntsville. I kind of know where reseach park is, but I don't know my way around huntsville all that well.

I usually don't plan the AL meets as I don't know the area, since I'm in TN. My cohort plans the AL ones. The movie was kicked to the curb as only two people were interested. Right now it's a photoshoot/mingle followed by a cruise with photo stops. Then dinner and more mingle/photoshoot. The meets are a little small but we are growing in numbers every time.
