South Carolina

Hey. I'm moving to South Carolina in about 15 days. I just wanted to see if there were any other protege owners in the area.

I am here in Charleston, but I see Blue has already told you about it.

I agree with you Blue in a past post. There are many Protege owners in Chas. I guess not many know about the club. It would be nice to get several or more to exchange ideas, and just talk about anything. Maybe we can put up some billboards around town! There are stereo clubs. One is in Summerville owned by a guy who did my Eclipse install. It used to be called Low Illusions and is named something else right now. Then there was Done2Perfection which died out and merged with the other club. Then you have redneck clubs like SouthernBoys, Redneck Racin', and High Rollers Yee haw there buddy. Lez gets some beer an talk 'bout 4 wheelin' while chewin' twobacky. Scary thing is, is that I worked with one of those rednecks and his wife's bday was around the time. I asked what did you get your wife for her bday. His response, " I got her Disney on Ice and a gun!" WTF?!?! Take out Mickey on the triple axle jump!

LOL

I am here, too, when I'm here. Just got back from a 5 week trip moving people and stuff to combat locations.

Welcome! I told another newcomer that's in my squadron about this site, and he should be logging on.

Good to see that there are some of us here in Charleston. I met Blue a couple of times, and he is a nice guy. He is really helpful and hooked me up with some good info and deals on stuff. Did you get your windows tinted here in Chas? There is a dealer off of Montague Avenue who did one of my 1st cars, and I want him to tint my Protege. At the time it was legal to do 35 on the sides and 20 on the back, so I was wondering if that is still the case hence why I ask if you got it done here. Also, and sorry for the questions, but how much did it run you if you don't mind me asking you? I have had my car since 01 purchased new and it has been the longest I have gone without tint ever. That is the first thing I do when I get a car and it doesn't already have tint. Maybe the three of us can meet up one day. I think there are some more Chas. members but are on msprotege site. 1 or 2 more. Maybe we can have a mini meet. I know Blue tried to do that in the past, but things fell through, so we'll have to all find a time that is good for all of us.

The meet sounds great. Unfortunately, I am going to Altus AFB, OK for 5 weeks for training. Starting tomorrow. I would be glad to do something after that. I just met a guy with a yellow MP3 off Hwy 78, his brother works at a dealership, and he knows some guys that get together and race and stuff. I told him about these boards, but he doesn't have his own machine. Only one at work.

As for the tint: I got it off Old Trolley Rd for $135 (including the moonroof). Can't remember the place. Something like J&M. A real small shop. Can't find it in the yellow pages. Call Sellars Paint & Body (did my hood) and ask them who they recommend. If you do it there, make sure they DON'T cut up your rubber in the back door windows.

I have just recently gotten onto msprotege.com and clubprotege.com and promazda.com, what with this site going up and down.

Here's what the car looks like now (with me):

And a link to my imagestation album of the meet:

For a second, I thought you were going to say The Window Tinter and my heart just about dropped. They did my old car and the woman didn't speak much English. I asked for 20 on the back and 35 on the sides and all she said was, "I tint LEGAL!" I was thinking WTF because the place over on Montague said it was legal to do so. We all have to get together when you get back.

Thanks and thank you for sharing picks of the meet. I signed your guest book too. No rush on the meet because of hernia operation last Friday. A few more weeks and I can start lifting again. I have all this week off and start back at work on the 15th I believe, but will be on light duty I'll be sick of doing the same **** over and over, but you do what you gotta do!

I have moved over there as well. I'll be glad to meet up with you guys when I get back. Should be some time around the middle of October.

MisterT, hows the ex-hernia?

I am in Altus, now, very small, very limited.

No hope for the future JAL?

I couldn't have gone then anyways, as I was in Germany and other places eastward...

Let us know when you come out to SC. Right now, I am in Altus, OK, not all that far from you.
