NEWBIE Section

I have been reading this forum for some time and have become very discusted with some of the things I see. One of these is the constant AUTO-REPLY of moderators to read the FAQ or use the SEARCH function. So as an idea...

Create a NEWBIE forum. Let new posters introduce themselves and their cars. Have a sticky posted at the top of this Newbie forum that welcomes the new users and tells them about the FAQ and the Search Function, where to find them and how to use them. Then we wouldn't have to read the messages from the moderators that sound like an AUTO-REPLY feature.

I know this will only help with the new users, but maybe once the experienced users see this forum and read the sticky, they will evolve with this board and use these features as well.

usually, it's Sir Nuke and I being the first one's to catch a newbie to welcome them. we remind them, because most people don't read the forum rules. we're not being asses in saying it, we're just welcoming them, and letting them know that the features are available.

I think the new sections is a great idea. It can't hurt to try. It would also allow the mods to post more usefull stuff durring their time on the board.

I personally think this is a GREAT Idea.....I have seen this feature on other chat/boards before....it works....and is a great idea

ahh Mike....I really don't think that YellowPR5 was refering to the responses that we typically leave...but to the single messages of

READ THE FAQ......OR DO A SEARCH....

and that is it......I can see where a newbie would get the wrong idea from that...and be hesitant to ask another question...or even hang around..

WE as moderators HAVE to take on the role of teacher...and treat every newbie as a new class that is starting....sure, we hear a lot of the same questions over and over...but what we need to do is to TEACH them how to use the FAQ...and TEACH them out to do searches....its not something comes natural to everyone.

YellowPR5.....GREAT IDEA!!!

suggestion #2 ??

Can we somehow group the dead threads with a keyword?

For example I am seeking wet weather tire performance information from the board.

A search of wet weather is too board and wet weather traction brings nothing....Just a question

Just bringing this back...

I also agree that this is a good idea for a forum. I was going to post a new thread about it and then thought, that is what a newbie would do. I searched and found this thread. So, how bout it, a Newbie Section, with all the info a newbie needs to know?
