Hey, I bought a used 2011 mazda 3 hatchback a few days ago, and I have noticed the radio is VERY quiet. I have to have the volume turned to 30+ to be able to hear it at a decent level. I tried messing with the ALC and when its at 7 I just get distortion. The sound is clear if the ALC is at 0, but like I said it has to be turned very high to hear it. Any suggestions?

Well it's on this car as well as the two that I test drove, so I've got a feeling that it is something to do with the settings, or maybe all of the mazdas are like this and the volume number just has to be high

 

Did you try going through the owners manually and seeing if that might help

That sucks. only thing I can really say is play around with it, deal with it or go aftermarket if it starts to bother you
