Turbo specs?

Does anyone know the specs for the Mazdaspeed Protege turbo or has gotten them from Callaway. An ETA on aftermarket kit? See it on Callawaycars.com in the new section. Probably old news to most, but since I got the unoffical from the director before the New York show, no new news. Also give me a break I have been in Guatemala for two weeks with no access to the internet.

Personally I'm dissapointed I was hoping to see a torque monster like the HKS protege I mean it had what 175 hp and 205 ft lbs of torque???? I mean come on callaway HKS blew you away on that one...Mazda should have just replicated the HKS protege IMO.

This is all I can get soo farfrom callaway:

There have been discussions about offering “a kit” as an aftermarket piece through the Mazdaspeed dealer network, however the current Mazdaspeed Protégé is a complete vehicle which has been engineered to balance handling, driveline, aero and power. Stay tuned for more!

And you'd probably want a factory warranty to go with your brand new car too, wouldn't you? Fat chance.

They don't have more torque than HP anywhere, except maybe at idle.

I took some pics of the Black Mica MS Protege at the SEMA show last weekend. I have to say its a very slick car, the interior is awesome and under the hood looks very clean.

Only complaint I have is that the intercooler is a pile of crap. The setup of the engine is similar to the MP3 but has a nice heatshield over the manifold that reads "Mazdaspeed" an below that you can see the turbo exhaust side pointing at an angle over to the drivers side. The intake is all Plastic, and most of the intercooler piping looks to be the same. I didn't get a chance to see under the engine for the routing of the rest of the pipes, but the size of the IC and the location were pathetic.

They mounted it next to the Radiator on the passenger side, it is about 2-4" wide and maybe 15-18 long at the most. It runs down the side of the radiator and you can see a small 3" section if you peer into the bumper. I think this will be its major limitation to power. Throw a good front mount on and this car will probably pick up 25hp and 35lb-ft.

It still lacks an LSD which would really help it out, they need to really smarten up before they release this car. It will sell, but be a menace to those who want to control it.

Yeah I read it had one too, but he is probably right. There is no mention of one at the www.Mazdausa.com site

Yes, they do mention the LSD on the site. It will definitely have one.
