Short throw shifter

I was interested in getting a mazdaspeed shift **** for my P5, and I read in another post that it wont work on the stock shifter. Is there a place I can buy a mazdaspeed or short throw shifter that will work with the MS shift ****? I dont really mind the throw on the stock shifter, but the shift **** is really cheap looking. Thanks

You can certainly use the MSP shift lever--you might find one in the classified section. I bought mine for $40 shipped. It's about 2-1/2" shorter than the stock unit and makes a big difference in shifting.

Short throw shifters are also available from TWMperformance, B&M, and KartBoy, although the latter is no longer made. In addition to being shorter than stock, they all reduce the angle through which the lever swings between gears. The MSP unit doesn't alter the angle.

Attached are some photos of the MSP lever next to the stock one:

what do you mean reduce the angle between gears? is that bad for the tranny? do you mean reduce the distance you have to push/pull it?

which means...the throw itself is shorter not just the shifter itself....

Has anyone tried the OBX short shifter? I found a few on ebay listed for a mazdaspeed. Would it fit an ES?

If it fits the MSP it will fit an ES. But it looks like junk.
