very simple sohc/dohc question

I could have probably found this out by looking around a little harder...so i apologize for making a whole thread for this one question.

can the DOHC assembly off of a 93 ford escort gt fit on my sohc's block? will it slide right on or are the blocks completely different...

would i have to get some wierd adapter? - reason im asking is because im upgrading to a higher performance clutch soon and now ive got plenty of potential for upgrades

thanks-dan

Isn't it true that a 90 to 94 Protege 1.8L engine lower block(short block) is the same for both the SOHC and the DOHC Proteges? If so, either SOHC cylinder head or DOHC head can fit on the engine. Can someone with the fact please confirm this?

I did some more reseach and I was wrong. The B8 has a BP block so the BP DOHC head will fit.

That's what I thought. Thanks for the research. We all sometimes rush to judgement in our willingness to help. I have probably done it too. Can you tell me what a B8 is?

The B8 is the engine code for the 1.8 SOHC.
