The World Today (aka "stupid")
At least I'm getting to enjoy myself in this thread --> http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showt...61#post3505461
By Joves I've got. Since even hands and feet can be deadly weapons even after all else has been confiscated airlines shoud strip all passengers, handcuff them and strap them into their seats. Then they can have armed police officers (they get guns because they are gov't officials) all over and if anything happens they can make an "example" out of any poorly behaved citizens... That way the gov't could keep everybody "safe" even from ourselves... While they're at it should make sure nobody makes any decisions for themselves, that might be harmful to others you know. Oh yeah and make sure to raise taxes, then I'll feel safe when I go on an airplane...
From the Gov't point of view we are all incapable of taking care of ourselves and so our lifes require vast amounts of gov't intervention.
Whadda ya think am I on it or what...

The Canadian is riding me pretty hard/thinks I've lost my grip on reality!!! Keep reading!!!
Seriously, they have like 23-page threads on whether or not little kids should be allowed on cruise ships. However, on a serious issue like this it's all "oh, I think that's a great idea".

Please, save me from myself, I'm HIGHLY DANGEROUS!!!
This is another example of bureaucracy at work. In my line of work (merchant ships) we now have to have someone trained as a Ship's Security Officer (note that this is a worldwide requirement, courtesy of the UN International Maritime Organization). Average crew today is around 22 people, and we have to spend time on top of our other duties planning for crew training for lockdowns and such. We don't get any guns or other means to protect ourselves, so why bother? If anyone takes over a ship they'll bring along their own crew and kill all of us outright, so it's pretty much a moot point (except maybe a cruise ship, then they would want all the hostages). Millions of dollars were spent on all the training and requirements to achieve this. I can't wait to see what they want us to do next year.
