Well, I didn't wreck it... the parking break slipped and it took a ghost ride into a planter box. On it's journey, the only damage was a dent in the gas tank cover, some scratches to the undercarraige, and then a couple of pieces of the suspension are bent (slightly).
I need to know what these pieces are called, and how critical they are. I haven't gone for a drive yet, except the 1 block from the scene to my driveway.
The pieces in question are most definately a part of the rear suspension, they are rods that run from the rear wheel to the center of the car, and they are on either side of the axle. They aren't bent necessarily, but you can see that they are bowed a little, where-as the passenger side is completely straight.
How critical are these pieces, and what affect can they have on the cars manueverability?

my .02....IF one side is "bowed" and the other side is straight....replace them....or at least remove them and straighten them.....its part of your IRS....and certainly is part of maintaining your rear wheel geometry....

Yeah... I was thinking along that lines... what I want to do is find out how much its going to cost... being as how I threw all of my petty cash into buying the car not 3 weeks ago.
Bumble... this pick helps, cause it lets me do this... (a picture worth a thousand words, right?)
Those two pieces that are circled.

Thanks for the info...
Although I might just do it the American Way... throw money at it and take it to the dealer. I don't really have any tools or anything, so it would be hell in the garage. Also, the alignment is way screwed up and needs to be redone.

The car was in Gear... Coasting is illegal, I never leave it in neutral unless I'm warming the car in my garage, or I'm shifting, and then only a split second.
I also found the car with the handbrake up. Of course, it's my word vs. the world on that one. The Mazda mechanic said that the car can pop out of gear fairly easily. (I can sit in my car, and without the key and without touching the clutch shift from 1 - 2 - 3 , etc.)
The estimate came out to $1200.
The ABS/Fuel harness was stripped of it's protective coating, and it was pinched in several places... It's drivable, but a freak rock could rupture it at this point.
TTLs = 2x$50
ABS Harness = $240
Alignment = $220
Labor = 8x$80/hour
Does that seem right? I know the harness will be tough to replace because they have to remove several other pieces of the undercarraige to get at the whole thing.

nothing seems to bad EXCEPT the labor charges....$80/hour? that is pretty steep....guess your dealer is more expensive than ours are around here...about $30/hour more expensive!
