I just got a 2001 LX Protege. Great car with just one flaw. The radio display fades then comes back. Is not related to temperature. Is this common or (I Hope) a failure that hardly ever happens?? I have a replacement radio on order, don't want an aftermarket. Hope that my new radio lasts a long time.

 

i have the same problem, but my cd player also skips. but the screen fades and comes back all the time on mine, and mines a 2001 protege lx.

 

Mine did that as well, but my skips and doesnt want to play copied cds. Doing to throw that piece of junk in the trash and get an aftermarket one that plays mp3s
