I have a 2000 Protege with a large sub setup in my trunk.....with the stock suspension and my Erebuni body kit....my 17s are rubbing on the rear body kit fender. (If I stick my fingers between the top of the tire and the fender in the rear I can maybe get 2 fingers in) Just to give you an idea of the drop the sub and amps are causing.

I wanna drop the car but not more then is gonna cause damage.

I am thinking about the 5 way adjustable tokicos.

What does everyone think about the drop amount I should go with and would you recommend trimming the inside fenders to prevent the rubbing (for anyone who has the Erebuni kit).

I want a more agressive stance....since the stock suspension kinda sits high.

What kind of wheels do you have? Do you know the offset? I don't think you should be rubbing without having even dropped the car yet, although I understand the subs are probably pretty weighty...I'm running the Eibach Pro-kit (1.8 drop rear) on my car with no subs and the stock 16s and I can get about a finger-and-a half in there.

 

go with the racing beats....only about 3/4 inch drop and ALOT stiffer spring, should hold up that sub better

 

its not really rubbing......its just rubbing a small part of the inside of the erebuni rear when the car drops after going over a bump or drop in the road. really just need real stiff suspension in rear with the added weight. the front I dont care no rubbing there.

the wheels are 17s fittipaldi flames from tires.com. not sure of offset but I dont think thats it.

 

Those are nice wheels, but be careful--the offset is only 40mm. +45 is recommended and +40 is kind of pushing it. I'm with macdaddy, go for the Racing Beats. I think you will have problems if you drop it too much.

 

You should run tiens!
They have a bigger drop in the front then in the back. For people that have big systems this means that the car levels out, nicely.
Alternativly you can get some coil sleves (with insane spring rate) and adjust the ride height to your preferences.
