Thanks....

The stolen items include my cd/mp3 player, my radar detector, the garage door opener, and my owner's manual ( ) but the damage is what sucks...and the glass everywhere!!! They tried to pry up the hatch with a screwdriver (or something) and scratched the paint and they also pryed open the the gas door. They sat on the glass from the window and scratched up the leather on the passenger seat. The entire piece around where the stereo and switch panel used to be is all mangled and scratched (and bloody too!) so that will all have to be replaced. I was lucky in the fact that I did not have any cds lying around...only the one that was in the head unit, my Teckademics Mischief soundtrack

The police did come out and dust for fingerprints, but it is unlikely that they will find anything. They don't do DNA swabs unless it is a murder or something.

Now that my switches are gone, how am I supposed to turn my pedals on????

Arrrrrrrrrrrgh.

... I hope that your insurance deductible is not too big. I have been there on numerous occaisions. My first car (a Datsun) was broken into when I was in high school, and all of my music was stolen. Then, somebody tried to break into my old Rabbit, but I caught the suckers in the act and chased them down. They lost me, but I had their lic. number, and called it in to the cops. Then, in college, my Ford Ranger was broken into, but they didn't get anything because somebody must have startled the crooks. Fast forward to 2001, just three weeks after my Neon was brought home from the dealership with the plastic still on the interior in places. They pried my door handle open, bending the sheet metal and snapping the handle. The car was not taken, probably because it has the best anti-theft device known to man - a stick shift! Then, two weeks later, a mini storage I was renting to store my motorcycles and tools was broken into, and my roll away filed with craftsman tools (equipped with everything including gear pullers, etc) was rolled away. The cops showed me how the crooks picked my Krytonite lock. Yeah, I've been there many times myself.... strange that all of that happened long before I moved to the Detroit area.... never had a problem here! Goes to show that what they say about cities is not always factual. Anyhow, I hope it turns out alright in the end. Before you know it, all of the damage will be fixed, and you'll be back on the road.

...another thought. Whoever did this is not a pro. A pro would not have tried to pry on anything, would not have broken anything, but would have nearly effortlessly been in the car in less than thirty seconds. Probably some stupid kids from the wrong side of the tracks...

My advice to you is, keep your eyes peeled on e-Bay for your head unit. I'll bet it will pop up sooner or later, maybe along with a few of the other (less obvious to identify) items.

We think they were looking for subs/speakers or something... the consensus is that they were "Honda" theives, considering the manner in which they tried to break the lock on my door. Apparently if you do that on Hondas they will open right up. I guess not so much on Mazdas so they went ahead and busted out the window

I'll keep you guys informed on the rebuilding of the car

So Karen, is Scott trying to convince you to convert the P5 to a RWD V8 car now?!?!?!
