<~~~does powdercoating but I'm currently down right now. What does he need done? I'll see if I can get it for you rather quickly. The problem is my new workshop wasn't wired as well ad I had hoped. The first time I fired up my ovens and lamps I turned out the lights in the houses surrounding mine. I have to have my shop completely re-wired if I'm going to continue doing big projects...if it's just a couple of smaller pieces it should be a problem.

I've been throwing around the idea of powdercoating the stock alloy wheels for my Mazda, before wrapping them in Falken Azenis.
Any idea how much powder coating a set of four alloys would cost?

 

depends mainly on the color you want and condition of the rims. If I have the powder in stock it wouldn't cost much. The most expensive thing about powdercoating wheels is shipping and return shipping.

 

I was thinking (gloss?) black. Wheels are polished, never been curbed. Not heavily oxidized, so I think surface prep would be minimal.

Since I have a Fed Ex account, shipping (though expensive) is not a hassle for me. What would be an approximate cost, per wheel? Just curious at this point....

 

they are the 16" polished rims? I have the same. I'd say about $140-150.

 

how do i clean powedercoated parts? i had a friend do my heat shield from the header in yellow, came out really nice. i haven't cleaned it in a while and now its got caked on dirt and grime. is there any way i can get that off? will sandpaper work or do i have to get it powedercoated again?

 

no no no, dont ever use a gritty surface or you'll ruin the gloss.

I just use a spray degreaser on engine parts and some mid-high pressure water. Powdercoated stuff cleans easily.

p.s. I wish you sold mazda's bud. I went to buy my wife a new stang, she said she's given up on Ford and wants a mazda....I took her to buy an RX8 and she spotted a 3S hatch she wanted so now I'm shopping around on them. If you sold them we'd drive down this weekend and get one from you.
