clutch chattering

hey everyone, i recently did an engine rebuild on my protege, and replaced the clutch while i was at it. after about 700 miles, something wierd started happening. as i am engaging the clutch starting off in 1st gear, the car shakes. i guess you could call it a shudder. i figure it's either my rear main seal leaking oil and it's getting on the clutch surface, or it's bad motor mounts.

my question is, how can i check the motor mounts to see if they are bad??....before i go pulling the trans back out.

thanks in advance

Have someone slowly declutching while holding the brake if the engine move to much that it's. If it's a mount it's going to be one of the two mount bolted on the crossmember under the tranny, it's rare that it's the side mount has they don't get to much stress
