Question blacked out headlights followup

I would like for anyone that has done the "warm the headlights up in the oven technique" and painted the surrounds black on their MP5, to comment on how they are holding up. I am considering this nice looking low cost mod, but just want to know if anyone is encountering leaks or any problems. Any one with their two cents will be greatly appreciated.

I spent my money and jsut got the OEM replacements. They're only $388 CDN each, so you may want to consider it.

Not to bad, an option I must consider. I have also posted in the "for sale"and "want to buy" anyone with these blacked out factory ones if they want to trade. I am a little nervous about taking apart a perfectly good lens via the oven.

Something else you may want to consider that won't cost you a penny, just some of your time - see if you can find someone in your area with a 2003 that likes the silver interior lights and trade with them.

I like the black headlights as well (I have a 2002), but I'm a little nervous taking mine apart. Luckily, one of the other members here in Edmonton has a 2003, and likes the silver interior, so we're going to swap next week - I can hardly wait! The only downfall - thankyou very much, Mazda engineers - is that in order to change the headlight you have to remove the bumper cover. Therefore, a quick simple switch that would normally take 1/2 hour tops, will take me around 3 hours. Oh well, it will be worth it.

Exactly, that is what I would like to do. Well if you know anyone in your area that wants chrome surrounds, I will trade them and pay for shipping for the both of us. I am just asking the headlights be in excellent shape. I have posted in the "for sale/want to buy" explaining just what I have said. Thanks, and your lucky to get the hook up with the blacked out lights, they look awesome.

I'll ask around. Now the only problem is, I need the black taillights (black chrome or carbon fibre) to match!

Those are ugly Andrea, but if you're in need of a set, they're here in Calgary. We can stop and get you some on the way if you'd like!

Thanks for the help!! Not bad on the taillights, but my choice is the JDM style.
