What does it do?

I just noticed a little switch on the rear doors of my P-5. its a mechanical swithc that has "lock" stamped into the door above it. at first I thought it was a "child" lock for the doors disabling the door lock so that the little ones riding in the back couldn't unlock the door and open it while the car was in motion...so I tried it...switched it to the locked position but the rear locks still worked manually...hmmmmmm anyone know what these little "locks" actually lock?

They're more than likely the child safety locks. They make it so you can only open the door from the outside if they are in the "lock" position. It's so a child cannot open the door from inside while the car is moving.

that is what I thought too...but seeing as how the back doors on a P-5 don't have a way to UNLOCK them from the outside..other than the remote....and I put them in the LOCK position and tried to open them from the INSIDE...and they still unlocked and opened....hmmmmmmm wazup with that!

Hey easy there, some of us might feel offended by those words

So what if I'm thirstier then your average Joe, can't I have a few Coronas every weekend/day? hehe, j/k

But that child lock is not good, I mean what if there's an accident or something, and you can't open the door from inside
Or what if the drunk guy has to throw up, or ya know.....

well you are right....it doesn't disable the locks...it disables the door handles.....you can lock and unlock it...you just can't open it! but ya know.....if I EVER have a drunk in the backseat of MY P-5...and he feels he needs to puke....he can not only open the door...he can jump! lol I don't even want to think about someone hurling in the floor or on the seat of my ride. :{D
