My left front rotor was glowing red the other day. I have noticed the a grabbing sensation from the left front side. It almost feels like the brakes are not releasing fully. It does not happen all of the time..although it seems to be happening more frequently.

I pulled the wheel to check for the usual issues- warped rotor, uneven pad wear, leaks, etc. All of these appear fine. The master cylinder and resevoir look visually fine (no leaks and full of fluid).

I did a search and a few suggested a bad caliper or try to bleed the lines a bit. Any help or suggestions would be great. Thanks

your caliper is sticking sometimes when you step on the brakes. you need to replace the caliper and probably the rotor to. you have gotten the brake so hot by now that the rotor is probably so uneven that you can't even turn it now. you will also need to bleed the brakes. not just the front but all four wheels. and you need to bleed the brakes starting with the furthest from the master cylinder. so bleed the right rear first, then the left rear, right front and then the left front.

 

just swap out the old caliper with a reman like said. i had locking calipers on the front end of my car, drove a 30 dollar set of pads out in 3 months to absolutely nothing left. the piston could be leaking (though i'd imagine it not working at all in that circumstance), or your slide pins are sticking. just make sure the calipers you're getting have the metal sleeve pins and bellows intact, as i wouldn't recommend reusing those. aside from that, i can't tell you a part number, i can only tell you that reman code 1422V is NOT the caliper you need for the front of your car. pepboys should have the damn things and won't run more than 50 a caliper...and while you're at it, pick up some new rotors and pads, pad retainers or spray, do the whole shibang

Thanks for all of the advice guys. I sprayed the whole assembly w/ cleaning fluid. Also, the caliper pins were not stuck or coroded, etc. I went to blead out the line and I sheared off the bleader nut. Well I was pressed for time and pissed to boot, so I threw the wheel back on and said f it. I have put 500+ miles on it since and have not had a problem since. I suspect that the cleaning fluid loosened up the pins and freed up the assembly. I am keeping a close eye on it. So far so good.
