smokin brakes!

ok driving through town and buddy slams his brakes on, and me caught off gaurd slow rapidly , anyway i come to a full stop and smoke is pouring out on my hood, tire wells and the front of the car, i mean serious smoke like white cant see through it smoke, i pull over thinking my engine is like gone or something and i see my brakes in the front are still smoking,

i dont exactly have great stopping power but what gives? what causes the burning off of my pads? and what can i do to stop it? resurface the rotors? better pads? new brake lines?

thanks for your input

Wow dude, good to hear you're ok though! Are you sure it wasn't the tires smoking? Did you lock 'em up and burn rubber instead? Sounds like you need a set of Brembo's .

Did you recently change you pads. New pads need to be bedded in, most places don't do that cause, 1)they don't know or care and 2)they figure no one brakes hard enough to worry about it.

If you get new pads and then run them hard the excess binders and solvents will come out. And you can experience green fade. But also some times they will smoke too.

(This is in addition to the above comments)
