I've raced Hyandai Accents that have given more of a challenge than these so called "2.0" Lancers. Are these really 2.0 engines.

Well I'm cruisin down a 3 lane highway and come to a stoplight. So I'm sitting there and this 2000 accord sedan V6 pulls of next to me. That car was swee too. Anywho, I knew that the 3 lane was about to become a 2 lane and it was going to be either me or the accord.
BTW, I have a 1.6L protege.
So I'm getting ready for the light and in my head I'm thinking its not even worth the try. That Accord would make a fool out of me. So I let him go ahead. Boy was he ready to race. He stepped on that pedal hard as hell for no reason since I wasn't planning to race him. Well right behind him was this "2.0" Lancer. I guess he thought he could punk me just like that accord. I was like 'no way Jose' and I step on it. Well he probably thought I was trying to race him then. So he pulls up beside me for a LOOOONG time. I wasn't even trying to race. Temptation setted in and he floored it first then me. He got like a 1/2 car lenght ahead then I started pulling on him. I'm like 'that easy, I have a 1.6' Right now I'm like a car lenght ahead and 2 cars get in his way. So instead of turning my FLASHERS on like an idiot, I slowed down and waited for him to get pass. So we turned onto a 2 lane street at a stop light. The light turned green and I reacted quicker, as usual. I was like 3/4 car lenghts ahead at like 35mph. The thing that got me the most was that he WASN'T catching my 1.6L at all. I was just slowly pulling away. By the time I hit 60mph I was like a whole car away. The only mod I have on my car is exhaust. The Lancer "2.0" is some **** and it let my slow 1.6L **** all over it.

 

lol good kill. have fun beating the n/a lancers, cause when the turbo lancer comes here, thers not a chance in hell. lol

 

Bring on the turbo Lancer. I'll smoke that too.

Just make sure I get a 10sec head start.

 

lol you just have to cheat, like whan your waiting for the light to change green, just go before it changes. lol then pray he doesn't run it to to beat you. lol

the new OZ edition lancers are slow.. i do agree here. as for the Evo, who ever wants to bring it as of april 1st, 04 will be up for a good run. The Evo needs a good driver and will then run its 13.6. but without a good driver, a boosted protege (hiboost) or some thing in that hp range should be able to keep up fairly well. the evo gets us outta the hole. thats our down fall.

 

well even with a good driver i would hold but not pass him my best run to date is 13.676 at 102mph.

 

Chris at CS ran a 12.74 at 110. he has the gtr setup in his 94 escort

 

just keep in mind you guys are taling about beating STOCK EVO's. I've already seen a truck-load of aftermarket parts for them. Remember the same things that make our cars fast make theirs faster. Intake, exhaust, and boost controller on an EVO will OWN the Porsche 911. Motor Trend did an article. Be very carefull about getting all "fast & Furious" out there!!

 

i think i read that same article, it was like 3 or 4 monthes ago right? they tested a stock EVO, moded one and a couple other sports cars. the modded EVO still only got low 14's2 for the 1/4 mile right?

the boost controller would defintiely help, but most of the preformance mods are already on there. would you honeslty change out the intercooler, intake? the exhaust maybe.. but i dunno. the EVO is supposed to be tip top out of the box

aren't most of the mods for suspension?
