BPTurbo Engine

i don't think anyone has asked this yet. But will the BPTurbo engines bolt up to our cars? If not what do i need for the swap? also how does it get 210 hp? why is the FS-ZE sound like eveyone wants that one instead?

BPT is nearly impossible to fit in your ES..

It is an engine which is MUCH older than your car, completely different engine mounts, completely different tranny, completely different ECU (OBD-I vs. OBD-II).. hacking up your firewall to fit the engine, Custom fabrication isn't fun, unless you own a fabrication shop.

Ask Corksport why you shouldn't put a BPT in your car

FS-ZE is a straight swap for you ES people, however the gains are MINIMAL since nobody has their engine tuned yet, since nobody knows how to do an OBD-I to OBD-II Ecu conversion and nobody can make a "chip" for your cars as of yet

FS-ZE is maybe 130-140WHP if it were operating full potential with its native ECU, however nobody has gotten full potential yet, and there are at least 5 people in the US with the swap.

How does the BPT make 210 horsepower? Simple, any Mazda engine with a turbo will produce ALOT of horsepower, or any manufacturer for that matter.. in fact you can make your ES a turbo for around $3000 reliably and that is the best route.. there are plenty of custom setups popping up.

and i wouldn't need another chip for the turbo?

130 whp is about 30 more hp than i am getting now.

And if i put a turbo on i would have to rebuild my engine to handle it. Along with the suspension. For the amount i would wanna go. I mean i would wanna go anywhere from 10-15psi.

I would rather do an engine swap (one that bolts right up) seeing as it seems easier since i have no idea on how to put a turbo on. unless someone can show me the way. I wanna do it myself

and that would be another project. i have an automatic. so with the haltech i could put a turbo on and use the turbo to the most the car can handle. How much can the 1.8l engine handle? and what about the auto tranny?

how can they say its more work than its worth? i mean i would take 8 hrs out of my day everyday of the month to swap out a engine with 210 hp and to a 5 speed manual. The only problem is i don't know how to change from a auto to a manual and how much money it would be. If i had the money and the know-how i would think it would be worth all the money. However i am kinda leanin to the FSZE engine and manual trans swap. I mean if you get the money for it you could put a turbo on the FSZE and be pushin around 230-270 hp. The only thing is it would cost about 10k-15k to do everything you need. Suspension, new tranny and all the stuff to go with it, new engine, turbo. Thats alot of work and a whole lotta money.

I'm going to have to agree with PsuedoReality and Corksport on this one. Just build your FS motor. Worst case you can pull it apart and put better rods and forged pistons in it, put 15-18 psi to it and make over 300 HP. You'll have a hard time putting all that power down anyway. It will cost you much less to modify what you have.

The FS-ZE isn't even ideal for turbo'ing since if you ran it with a standalone or converted OBD-I ECU, it's a high compression motor in comparison to the others, so it's somewhat more boost limited.

can't you just get new rods/pistons to lower the compression somewhat to make a more turbo friendly environment??

How do you explain the turboed matrix. Stock 11.5:1 running a 8psi? Simple its tuned perfectly. Check out the sport compact issue. I think it was either last months issue or the month before. Its all about the tuning
