Re: GGRRRRR damn RICERS!

You are the MAN... I guess i must be retarded thinking i know anything about cars....

I am quite familiar with 3rd gen RX7 as my best friend has one... And its funny to see the number of APEX seal failing, undercooled retarded cooling system RX7's are out there..

My friend had to change is 13B engine after 80,000kms... because of heat and apex failure... RETARDED...

What makes you think the RX8 is supposed to be so fast? Its an automatic only renesis engine with very little torque to match its lofty hp (i need to see the power curve but the ratings seem like S2000 Vtec engine ratings).. and matched to an awesome auto tranny, i think the RX8 should be amazing right?

As someone mentioned before, whats wrong with making a FWD go fast? A rwd drive car is surely enough fun... but because of the retarded drivers of north america, its unsafe and thus understeering and front weight loaded cars these days appear to be the safest thing for most drivers.. I prefer RWD...

But RWD's have always for decades been laying down some really nice times, that only FWD cars have come close to ... Dealing with the weight transfer is quite the feet during launch.. and takes a lot of expertise to handling and get a good 60 feet time.. I think it is highly ignorant not to understand how much skills are need to make a FWD go fast..

Sure a C5vette, viper and etc are amazing machines with fairly lofty sticker prices.. but for the younger crowd, all we have are FWD econoboxes in our price range.... What is the lowest priced RWD that could be had under 30K thats decent enough to consider?? THATS WHAT I THOUGHT..

THus this is the popularity of FWD racing...

And before you go off calling me a moron... i thought i was somewhat educated in a sense.. But i guess you telling me i am a moron because of my personal opinions to cars makes me a moron...

Wow! you are a persistent little bugger, heh.

OK, you obviously know nothing about a rotary engine. The long, narrow combustion chamber inheriantly gives it more HP than torque. That is why the figures may seem similar to an S2000. All the NA rotaries show this characteristic, even back in 1979 (when the S2000 wasn't around ), so who's the copycat now? The reason the 3rd gen has so much torque behind its engine is b/c of the TWIN TURBO's. However, the reason your friend may have detonated his engine was exactly that reason. You see, the rotary NEEDS to have a perfect air/fuel ratio to last. Most people either just mod I/E/H had get some more air in there w/o getting hte appropriate fuel upgrades to compensate for this. Thus causing the engine to "blow." Unfortuantely the majority of ppl are too stupid to upkeep a rotary. There are TONS of RX-7's out there seeing life well into the 200,000mile period. There are basically 5 things that blow a rotary, 1. Detonation 2. overheating 3. lack of oil 4. overrev 5. it is a mechanical device, it will fail eventually (as with all engines). the STOCK lubricating and cooling systems are more than sufficient to make the engine last, providing it is cared for. Unfortunately ppl are not smart enough to maintain a rotary well, blow it, and give it a bad name. HOWEVER it IS a better engine design, think of everytime a piston has to come to a complete stop, all that loss of momentun/change in power. And in a race you dont wanna keep the RPM's low, you like the high horsepower at the end of the spectrum, as well as adequate torque. The RX-8 has torque above 200ft-lbs. that is VERY sufficient, considering a civic gets wieghted down with a passenger and/or a few groceries . It seems if Honda wanted to make the S2000 a real competitor they shoulda put something in their other than another 4, can u say NSX engine? Plus i DO think it's an accomplishment that they got a small engine like that to do 9,000 safely. However launching from 6k+ is bad for the clutch, and few drivers do it. That is why S2000's are seeing 14's and 15's at the track. I AM SURE the RX-8 will do MUCH better than that, plus the redline will be in the neighbor hood of 11,000 RPM's.....

Oh yeah, when it was first released, the RX-7 (3rd gen) was only around $30,000. ANd you can find a nice one for around 15,000 nowadays. World-class handling and <14 sec 1/4 mile times for an affordable price. and if taken care of, it WILL last as long as any piston engine. PLUS there are CERAMIC rotary engines being developed that (in tests) will exceed 1,000,000 miles and gain about 40% HP in the same 1.3L engine size. Plus they will not need oil or coolant do to ceramics high capacity for friction and heat. A new process has made ceramics rediculously cheap and easy to produce, it wont be long before we see them in production.

I'll admit it's a skill to launch a POS FWD econobox and get blazing 1/4 miles times, but like Gary Coleman says, "Who ******* cares?"

I hope this answers all your ?'s and resolves and misleading information you may have thought about the RX-8 and/or rotary engines. BTW my engine blew well after 100,000 miles and i was racing it when it was cold- not a good idea for ANY engine .

I know a little bit about cars, and don't want to jump in and start anything, but I wouldn't down a car, just because its automatic.

Surely you've heard of a '96 Impala SS. That car (limited as it was) came only in a automatic (Hydra-matic 4L60-E 4-Speed Automatic Overdrive Transmission), and had some SERIOUS power to push.

That is actually my dream car... 5.7 Liter, 300 hp @ 5000 rpm stock ... drool.....

I forgot, i AM the man, thank you

BTW! The RX-8 WILL HAVE a manual tranny. it NEEDS one, the auto version will only redline @ 8000rpms. the NICER version will be a manual cuz no auto can HANDLE 11,000 RPMS!!!!

IT WILL BE A NICE, FAST CAR. and ALWAYS better than ANY "econobox"

Damn it

I haven't been back here in a while..

Anyhow.. MAZDA SUCKS!! HONDA RULES..

My vtec will smoke all you fools.. LOL..

BTW.. i used the tag Minirx7 because i have used this name for almost everything for the past 6 years..

And i can afford a 3rd gen RX7, but its not my thing..

I learned alot about the rotary engines 12A, 13B, 20B etc... ( i heard a dude was trying to build up a 4 rotor motor)..

Anyhow.. my protege sucks its a slow car, PEPPY Economy car i guess..

I am in the market for some higher class cars (protege will become my winter car)..

So i guess looking at the C5, BMW 330, Infinity G35... or something along the lines..

It feels good to graduate university, so i can finally get a decent respectable ride..

But until then, i am going to continue to have fun with mey Protege..

I respect all cars just to remind you...

But onething is that MAzda is sort of depressing me with their marketing tactics... Most of there cars are now using ford engines... Thank god ford is allowing mazda to continue with the rotary motors...

I bought my protege in high school!! LOL..

Don't worry.. i still front my protege like its the best

I still want to consider a turbo for my car... but at this point not sure..

The longer i wait to buy the new car, the more money i can spend on my new car...

In the mean time... i can borrow my parents car when my car doesn't suit its purpose.. ie.. driving clients around..

I already look like a retard driving my touring wing DTM exhaust tinted window equipped protege to the office, where everybody else are driving plain jane benz, bimmers and L's

Who me??

Nah man.. i am not full of it.. my protege has done me well for the past 6 years (despite having a lemon)..

But after 5 years of hard work at university, the schooling is finally paying off, and i got a really good job at an accounting firm..

Therefore, i just want something that will give me the credit for all my hard work in school... PAY OFF TIME>>

Hmmm.... My parents have decent cars, but nothing extraordinary..

And besides the maxima is hell of a better car than the benz.. its faster, and has more drivers feel..

Not really in to benzs, i had a rental 2000 ML320 and i really don't understand why people buy that piece of ****..

And i do love proteges, but just really frustrated with the following things:

1. Had problems with my car since day one
2. Spent enough this year (over 5000) on mod/maintenance items including a new tranny
3. No aftermarket support
4. Wanted to do a KLZE swap but the 2nd gen engine bay is too tight.. i even had the goddamn money too!!!

Hey Jesse

How is it that i abused my car from day one??

I bought it and babied it.. never even chirped the tires until about 50 000kms..

The car was in and out of the dealership even after 2k...

By 16 K, the car would not start, and the check engine light was on.. NO MODS NO ABUSE..

Replaced everything underwarranty..

Besides, i only started abusing it after about 60K but i had tranny problems from before..

by 100K, some ***** at Erin Mills MAzda fukked my car up by not repairing my tranny (which was under warranty at the time) and had grinding problems ever since...

Just remember.. i don't necessary abuse my car.. i drive the maxima just as hard and its never been back for any repairs other than maintenance.. and its got 120 000kms..

My ex's 99 i put like 60 000kms on it and now there is a 100 kms..

Her protege never went back to the dealership at all!!..

So just remember i got a lemon..

And also what are you saying about the aftermarket availability thing>>>

Name me where i can get a decent header at an affordable price?? Name me where i can get a decent bodykit other than the crap fiberglass from Erebuni and the 10 million dollar mazdaspeed kit...

Another thing, the BPT motor does not swap in to the 2nd gen, and in addition, the tranny is totaly different since the 2nd gen uses the F25m-R tranny..

The BPT uses the G25M-R tranny, thus there needs to be dramatic modification as the rear of the tranny housing is not the same..

MiniRX7-I know what you mean about the new nissans! i drove a new Maxima (fully decked out) with a 6 speed yesterday.... boy that thing is sweet, lots of very good power delivery, no torque steer!, and boy that thing will kill lots of cars out there!
though i still love driving my P5, i really want me one of those new maximas or altimas!

Nissans RULE LOL

How does a few burnouts kill the car??

I started to do burnouts after my car had 100 000kms on it..

In addition, i have done burnouts in the maxima, and my dad's old pos Chrysler LHS (that was pure jokes never knew it could actually do that)..

Its okay, protege's are cool, but they aren't filling my niche no more.. i feel like i got to grow up in to a higher level car.

But i will still keep my protege as my winter beater/project car considering that the residual value is next to nothing at this point as a result of high mileage...
