Well, took it to the track to see.

Well, I went to the track last night with a friend and ran his Hemi ram. I can’t make to many excuses but I will say this. This is my first time ever at a track in a FWD car. And it SUCKS!! My reaction times sucked. I only ran 2 times. The fist time I launched between 1700-2000 RPM, and it spun just a hair and then caught traction so much it slugged down pretty good. So on the second time I launched between 23-3000 RPM. All I got to say is OUCH! The wheel hop was horrible. After that run we stopped buy the scale. I only had 2-3 g of gas in it and weighed in at 2880, he was at 5748. I wanted to see what the car would do AS IS, so I kept my heavy *** 17s and subs in. The 17s are 30+ lbs and the box a subs all though I haven’t weighed them, are heavy as hell. I’ll go back after I put the motor mounts and strut bar on. Maybe that will help with the wheel hop and the 60ft time. Plus I’ll put the 15s on and lose some of that extra weight. I’m hoping the 15s (with good tires) will let me launch better with out bogging down after it catches. So here’s the times. Oh and the RAM only has exhaust and K&N drop in, and is an auto. I’ll try to take pics but it’s blurry (I got the yellow copies) so I’ll type it also.

First run

Me Him

1.2631--------------------------------------------Reaction---------------------------------------1.1506
2.3701-------------------------------------------- 60 FT ---------------------------------------2.3996
6.8105-------------------------------------------- 330 FT ---------------------------------------6.8052

Second run

1.2663--------------------------------------------Reaction---------------------------------------1.3867
2.4760-------------------------------------------- 60 FT ---------------------------------------2.4023
6.9498-------------------------------------------- 330 FT ---------------------------------------6.8112
10.6570------------------------------------------ 1/8 ET ---------------------------------------10.4830
65.82-------------------------------------------- 1/8 MPH --------------------------------------67.61
13.8560 ---------------------------------------- 1000 ET --------------------------------------13.5923
0--------------------------------------------------- 0 MPH -----------------------------------------------0
16.5701------------------------------------------ ¼ ET ----------------------------------------16.2639
83.16--------------------------------------------- ¼ MPH ---------------------------------------83.55

Needles to say, times like this make me miss my 97 Z28. But at least I wasn’t the slowest.
Any ways, I know I posted once saying I’d get 14s but we all new that was BS!!! But I did think I’d be high 15s. I can’t wait for my warranty to go out, then I can PP the head and intake. Oh and I also have to say I got the jitters big time. I guess it was because I was racing a co-worker that is gona rag me Monday. But damn it was fun.

So what do you think, any other ideas on the wheel hop?

AWR front and rear mounts...problem solved.

p.s. your 60' times were better than mine with the WOMP...45lb-ft extra and no motor mounts SUCK.

just fyi, my 1/8th times with the 4.5psi were .5s quicker but 13mph faster. You're on the right track just need some more oomph to help you recover from those launches.

strut bar won't help the wheel hop - only better handling (car is tighter).

Try better launches - there should be a sweet spot before the wheel hop w/o the bogging...

I think my struts are on the way out also. Thats probably why I got the hop at such a low rpm. I'm going to get the front an side mounts and the strute bar, but while I'm at it I'm gona try to get a pully.

Which I'm gona post in a nother thread but I'll ask here too. You any of you know where I can get a lighten pully? I wont one that is the same size just lighter.
