Wow im glad i have the 2.0 then, I'm gonna say this is probably mostly due to the speedometer being way inaccurate at those speeds but a while back i managed to break what hte speedometer claimed to be 130...so i cant possibly have a governer unless its not working....wow looking back on it seems kinda dumb, even as late as it was.

My 1.5 5-speed is pretty much all out of juice at 110 at about 5000 rpm in 5th gear. Ya, and I'll have to agree with you Tyrael, that looking back on my run, it was kind of stupid on my part--think liscence revoking...mmm good thoughts. Once is enough.

Ghetto...remember ures is a 92 pro......

the gearing is different for newer pros

and then auto and manual is also different from each other (even if its the same year car)

hmmm..... well the last time i hit the governor was a very long time ago....it has to have been 2 years ago now.... but what i remember is about 190kmph (~118mph)@ around 5000-5500RPM in 5th gear....

i miss my RX-7 .... 220kmph in 4th gear... (not enough power to accelerate in 5th gear...until i get turbo ) .... ok time to go work on it

Ya, mine's a 98. So the gearing is probably going to be different. My car needs all the gearing help it can get. Any of you 2nd gen drivers annoyed with 2nd gear on the 5 speeds? It's a momentum killer.

If I figure right, if I had enough power to pull redline in my car, then I would top out at about 140 or so. But I guess there's a governor there to stop it.

Prime said that his wife's 2.3s Mazda3 hit 112mph and stopped? I don't know if the ecu's are different in the hatch or the sedan but I had my 2.3s sedan doing 130mph and that is no LIE. People might not believe, but it is TRUE. I was getting my brother from OKC and as we all know, that is one straight drive on I40 from Little Rock Arkansas. Thoughts?

I don't think much more than 125 is possible in a protege. though the speedo may SAY 140 it's probably off by quite a bit at those speeds.

On the way back from the protege meet this weekend on I-65 North I hit 130mph. It is not a myth Matty was for real.
