smoked a Jeep Cherokee
not sure what year, or what engine, but it wasn't a grand cherokee - was one of those boxier ones!
was driving home late last night from work and this jeep was tailin' me for a few blocks. i make a left turn and he follows, and then he goes for it, so i floor it too!!!
i was in the wrong gear (3rd @ around 40 km/h) and i never downshifted but he never was able to pass.
he kept going for it, but by about 2 blocks later i had about a 3/4 block lead on him. he kept going, so i kept going too - wasn't the brightest thing to do, i admit (wet streets and near freezing mark). i reach 160 km/h and then decide to turn off - never saw him in the rearview again!
i kicked myself for doing it, but i'm an adrenaline junkie i guess!

Be cautious of the "Cheep 4.0L"
Shortly after purchasing my Protege, my blast with a Cherokee late one night wasn't as successful...
From a dead stop at an intersection, the light went green and we both slammed the fun pedal. I had a bit of a traction problem (stock P185/65R14s) but once under control had a 1/2 car length on the "Cheep Cherokee" for 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears but I heard him shift into 4th and he pulled matching his rear bumper with my front. I noticed the 4.0L on the rear gate and realized that I probably wouldn't gain any on him. The next day (hanging my head in shame)I went to local speedshop and purchased a Cone K&N and custom intake tube.
