set up to the line

This is long, but good
my car:
91 protege LX 5spd
cat-back exhaust
chopped air box with K&N air filter
most of interior stripped
and a well tuned engine

So last summer when i started really getting into my car and decided to lowered it, put a cat-back exhaust 2.25 custom piping on it with a somewhat nice muffler, chopped the air box and dropped in a K&n air filter, got new NGK spark plugs and wires and tuned the car up so it was running pretty good.
My friend who knows his ****, was import champion in Idaho with his civic hatchback SI that ran 13.2 with his stock motor for 2 years straight told me that i needed to race some people, but whenever i tried people would never give me the place or time. All they would every say is "get that piece of **** out of here", or "i'm not even gonna waste the gas" or something of the sort.
Well, i knew someone with a caviler that had some mods and he finally decided to race me just for fun. Everybody though he would beat me cuz he was almost the fasted in town, except for my friend's civic hatchback, but he wasn't racing it, and an eclipse. So we headed out there with a whole bunch of people and some cars so we could do a lot of racing.
So we lined it up, my friend was flagging and when he dropped his arms, me and the caviler were off. He missed 2nd gear so we had to start again. So we lined up again and this time when i looked over at him he wasn't so cocky, this time he knew he might loss. Again we start off, and this time, smoke flying, wheels squealing. I basicly had him in first and when i hit second i just kept pulling away from him and when we came across the line, i was 1 & 1/2 to 1 & 3/4 of a car length ahead of him.
Everybody there couldn't believe that my grandma car took this caviler. Everybody just kept saying "no way" and looking in disbelief. So i then said "fine then, have somebody else step up then" and a neon sxt did. Again grandma car comes out the winner. Still everybody couldn't believe it so about 3 guys went back into town to get their cars, and when they came back they brought a civic coupe and the eclipse that was the fast of the bunch in town.
So i lined in up with the civic. Hands dropped and i decided to have fun with his guy. I didn't go all the way in first, only to about 6,000 and shifted into 2nd. We were nose and nose. I looked over and saw that he had a smile on his face and he thought he might win. Then i slammed on the gas and started pulling from him and got him by 1 car length or more. This was a sweet race cuz this guy had been talking **** about me for about 4 months, saying my car was slow, and i was afraid to race cuz i would lose and that his car was so much faster. So after the race i came back and started talking to everybody and so did the guy in the civic coupe. I just looked at him and said "yeah, it was nothing" implying that his car was slow as ****, he got all pissed, jumped in his car, squealed the tires, and took off. I guess he couldn't handle defeat.
So now it was me and the eclipse. We lined it up and the first two times we raced, he missed 2nd gear. Guess he was scared of something. Finally the 3rd time he didn't miss 2nd. I got him and bet him by a car length or so. My friend with the civic hatchback that was import champion said that, that eclipse should at least keep up with me, if not beat me, so he decided to race the eclipse. He has been racing for 10 years so he knows how to race good.
He lined it up, hands went down, and we took off. He were even in 1st. I hit second and started to pull a little, and when i hit third started to pull a little more and when we came across the line i had him by 3/4 a car length.
That night was the night i proved myself and my car to everybody. Now where ever i go, everybody that is in to cars or racing has heard about that night, and now magically want to be my best friend, where as before i didn't even exist.......
Now everybody has a new respect for Mazda Proteges

I didn't want to raise the BS flag since I wasn't there (I'm itching to do so), but I just can't see a Protege w/only intake, exhaust, and some weight reduction mods running 13s. I can't even see it beating an eclipse by much, if any and ESPECIALLY not an Si.

My car isn't the one running 13s, it's my friends with the civic hatchback, and the fastest time he had was 13.2 and he has the slips to prove it and the trophies. Now with the eclipse, i beat that, but not by much. It had intake, lowered, short shifter, muffler, and just got it back from the shop and had it all tuned up.

After reading this part, it seems like you are saying that you beat your friends Civic by 3/4 a car lenght. So if you did beat it, that would mean that your car is probably a 13s car.

If you are the one that lost, you might want to rewrite that. It 's kinda confusing.

Ok, after i beat the eclipse the first time by about a car length my friend with the civic was saying that the eclipse should at least keep up with me. so he convinced the guy who owned the eclipse to let him race it and he agreed. so my friend with the civic jumped in the eclipse and wanted to race me. him in the eclipse, me in my pro cuz he thought the eclipse should run faster. then we raced and i still beat the eclipse

Does that make sense now?

The eclipse is a 97. True, there are bad drivers in town, mainly cuz they're just wanna be racers......while they're in town talking **** or going, "look at my wonderful car" , i'm out practicing my racing skills

eclipse

It was a 1997 Eclipse GS, it had:
intake
ground control coilovers with new shocks
strut tower bar (even though that doesn't help when you racing straight)
muffler
short shifter
performance chip (i think, that's what owner said)
and he had just got it back from the dealer for its 60,000 mile tune up
