Racing a Protege 5

Found this on streetkiaz.com, thought you guys may be interested.

OK you guyz this is my first kill story...it happened today after school....my friend asked me what kind of engine i had in my KIA Optima and i told him 170hp V6...and his friend was standing next to him and hes like "I bet you couldnt hit 80 in that car." So i was like "Y dont you put your money where your mouth is" and so 20 bucks came to the deal. we met up on 84 and Weston Rd after school...He has a brand new Mazda Protege5 and he haz rimz..(I think he has intake but im not sure) well we both got to the front of the stop light and we were goin to the next light 136 Ave. So we both have autos so i did a neutral drop and so did he...at first up to about 20 he had a whole car lead...but one i got up to 4000 rpm i gained on him...then we started coming up on some traffic so i flipped it in to tiptronic mode and kept it in second weaving through the traffic...(he was still in front) so after we got through the traffic i hit it while i was still in 2nd and its the tiptronic that saved me bc when i went his car was still searching for the right gear...needless to say we stopped when we hit 110 but i dont know if i won or not bc i was the one that backed off fearing the school zone ahead....we'll see who gets the 20 bux tomarrow...

Some very ignorant people on the site. Kia's Sephias, Sand whatever's beating BMW E46 M3, MB C320, Mazda RX-7's etc.

I can bet your Kia can do 4.5 seconds from 0-60, the only problem is, it would have to be dropped from the top of the mountain.
Sorry but I could not resist.

Nuetral drops in nice, new cars (except for the kia)? Why? Please don't do that anymore.

Do not be bonehaded like Honda boys
Optima-3220 lb with 178 hp-18.10 lb/hp
Protege5 2720 lb with 130 hp-21 lb/hp
In order to have same lb/hp ratio, Protege 5 has to have 150 flywheel hp.
Get real, we do not drive a rocket!
That story is true, Protege 5 auto will LOOSE to KIA Optima auto, live with that and do some research before bashing another cars.

If the Kia is running. We've had Optima's with as low as 23 miles on them come in for problems. They are ****.

I am not saying that they are RELIABLE. I am saying that the are NOT that slow compared to Protege5. So here's extra offence-**** Kia is FASTER than super reliable Japanese made Protege 5.
Remember "I live 1/4 mile at a time" not "23 miles at a time" and "winning is winning"

I personally think all of yall are nuts, lol I live my life the way it should be ,,, properly ,..
The kia and the p5 match would be kinda accurate , although I do think it would be kinda unfair for him to switch to the tiptronic to get an advantage, that makes it seem as th ough his tranny is not good. He should have stayed in auto and raced the p5 straight up and then see who would win ,...
But then they are both frigin dopes for racing in a damn school zone , that **** will land your dumb *** in jail ,, that is some nutty ****

I agree....racing like that is completely ignorant and will one day catch up with you........that is why I try to avoid situations like that. I am in no way a saint, I have had a few challenges that I foolishly accepted and won, but I realize after the fact how stupid I was for being drawn into foolish acts as this.

I agree Sparcus. Very few cars can challenge P5s on twisties.
Even though I own a P5, my other car has no challengers in the twisties.
