An intake won't help you, the miata's are pretty quick stock.

Intake will actually slow you down a little at the start, but you have more gain at the peak. So, go get yourself some exhaust!

Every time I hop into my wife's totally stock 2001 miata, I marvel at how much faster it is than my P5.(even with an intake & Mazdaspeed exhaust). That little car's pretty quick.

That's why I couldn't believe that the Miata shares engines with a Kia!

The Miata's have a small/lightweight/RWD advantage over our Pros. It definitely helps in launching!!

I've beaten my brother's 1990 before.
I'm not sure if it was before he got a new engine in it, or one of his new engines It might have been just before he got it. His has over 200,000km on it and mine has about 190,000 km. He's an awesome driver and it was just a straight line, if it had been in curves he would have raped me.

I thought 2001 proteges had 1.8L or 2.0L engines? My 1990 Miata has a 1.6L engine (the only one offered). How are these EXACTLY the same?

Is his Miata stripped out? My P5 weighs 2716lbs. My Spec Miata is only allowed to weigh 2200lbs and that is with a pretty stripped interior and lightweight wheels. How do you have a 1000lb weight difference?

I should update my previous post to include unintelligent comments, cause I sure think it can run quicker than 2 hours and 1 minute. Wait, was it automatic or manual?
