Mercedes ownage...

So i was driving over to the gf's last night and i came to a stoplight and through my closed windows and over my music i see hear 16 yr old kid in his daddy's mercedes blaring his music and revving the engine (clearly an automatic in nuetral) so i look over and hes staring right at me givin me the nod... now im fully expecting to get owned here cuz the only performance upgrade i have is an intake... sure enough tho, light turns green, i hit the gas and easily beat him up to around 45mph then backed off for the next red light... now either he was too busy trying to slam it back in to drive or those mercedes (s class i think) are wayy to underpowerd for their price.... either way def owned the crap out of that kid...

sounds like me racing every BMW I encounter.....yes they are WAY heavy and under powered.

My tag says "BMW WHO"....so you know I get a lot of challenges when I ride around.

If it was an s320, then you're right, stupidly underpowered. Any newer E class would hand you your *** though My friends mom has the least powerful model (E320) and it will take a G35 in a race.

haha well i have soft spot for bimmers cuz my first car was a '86 528e and my dads got a 2000 540i ...i can out accelerate his HEAVY V8 to almost 25mph, then hold even til around 40, he pulls away then and owns me after that... i can hit 80mph in 3rd gear in his car, its freakin rediculously quick from 60-100, but the initial acceleration just isnt there

just a brake job (again) - got the rotors turned Wednesday, and it would have been done that day, but the guy at the dealership "forgot" parts closed at 5, and he got off at 6, so getting those today. Seriously thinking about painting stuff while the wheels are off

not gonna do much more to it until i sell my ATV.... then....

i'll have to actually pay attention to how fast each gear actually goes... give me something to do on the way home.

Not to be a bummer or anything but I don't understand why any of you would run you cars past 6k rpms. Your way past you peak power curve and your tempting fait. I shift most of mine (normal driving ) around 4500 and racing 5500-6 max. This still keeps the RPMs up but for the next gear but not so high as to peg the redline. Just a thought.
