Talking Killin 2 Honduhs w/ 1 Pro

You won't see me in this thread much cause I don't cruise around on Fri/Sat nights looking for races...but here's how it all went down. I'm cruisin' home from work, a little after 5pm. Pull up to a stoplight. I open the CD wallet looking for a TOOL CD to cure my case of the Mondays. No sooner did I get the wallet opened when beside me I hear the unmistakable sound of a Folgers fart pipe exhaust. I look up to confirm my suspicions, a 17-yr-old in a Civic ('95 DX...who knows, it wasn't an SI so what's the difference) with an identity crisis. Normally I don't race anyone having more than 5 stickers on their car, but he had no sticker speed. I was slightly concerned by the shiny 17" wheels in the back offset by the 14" black steel wheels on the front (lightweights with some grippy rubbers maybe?). As he grins, he pops his head out the window to nod to his buddy behind him. As I check my sideview mirror I see a large Tupperware bowl with 4 wheels, flipped flatside down, bowl side up, I squint my eyes to discover it's actually an old CRX with an ill-faited body kit that was never worthy of a paint job. The cars in the turn lane just got the yellow so I knew our turn was near...I crept up slightly to let him know I'd humor his gesture. I quickly snapped off the A/C and the stereo (read Edwin's commentary on Alternator powerdraw today) and brought the RPMs up to about 3.5K. The light turned green, I mashed the gas and did my best to feather the clutch and keep RPMs high, the Kumhos let out a slightly audible chirp and then bit the road and quickly pulled the asphault behind us. 1st gear was coming to an end and he was already near my rear bumper, still chargin hard I decided he wanted some of 2nd gear too. I slammed her into 2nd and watched in the rearview as he slowly drifted into the past. His Tupperware friend was losing even more ground. Still, unrelenting, I slammed into 3rd just a hair above 60mph. At this point I remembered tickets are expensive and insurance is unforgiving, besides, unless he had some Nitrous saved for a last attempt it wasn't worth it. Easy cure for case of the Mondays...the TOOL CD never found the stereo. And now I'm home sharing the joys of running with a slightly different crowd. Hail Mazda!

that's how you do it...

Next time, glyde backwards at the light to give them a small edge before you smoke them. It'll make them look even worse...lol

Why would you need to slap out of reverse? You ARE driving a manual right?

yeah, i drive a manual I think kyo was saying that if you do take redrims advice "roll backwards at the light", make sure you take it out of reverse so that you go forwards when the light turns green.

Yeah..

But only autos will need to put it in reverse, so I wouldn't recommend that move for an auto. (for the reason "kyo" gave)

The point is that manuals don't need to be put into reverse to roll backwards.

Well, here in Florida, we dont have hills...all are roads are level and boring. So in a sense, if the road was level, you would need reverse to go backwards. But anyway...I see your point, and kyo's as well.
