Post funniest race ever! blew up a honda

this afternoon i was leaving one of the local speed shopsin town and a 90-93 honda accord with some apexi stickers on it tried to race me. we both rolled up to the next light and both took off i had a great launch or he just sucked. anyways i was about 2.5 cars ahead of him and then all of a sudden he was about at the front passenger door and BOOM, black smoke everywhere! i dont know what it was but i just kept driving. any ideas on what it was?

I doubt he was spraying, he prolly upgraded his ECU and brought it far above the redline, thus blowing his motor. I can see him pulling ahead of you without NOS, just not seeing him blow his motor? He must have done something wrong.

I haven't gone to the dyno yet. I need a lot of tuning done. I'm getting some tip in detonation. I went to the track once and got a 14.9@95mph

That was with a lot of wheel hop due to my motor mounts being blown. Here's a list of what I had at the time I was at the track:

1.6L SOHC motor with 107k miles
JRSC with 10lb of boost
AEM ram intake
AEM FPR 1:1
Cartech FMU
Walbro High flow pump
Clutchmasters Stage 2 clutch and pressure plate
Tokico shocks
H&R sport springs
16" Enkei Rpo2 with crappy 205/40 BFGOODRICH tires (Euros)

Since then I have gotten a J&S ultra safeguard. It comes with a map/boost controller and a safeguard against pinging and knocking.
I also installed some ES motor motor mount inserts along with new motor mounts

I could get in the mid 14's down to low 14's if I would go with hondata and the hondata setup (different ecu, injectors, etc). It's kinda expensive and definitely will need to be tuned.
I'm not that fast and furious

As for how it looks, that's my car in my sig, I haven't taken anymore pics. Maybe one day when I get the chance. This past month I've been fighting with CEL lights on my civic. Just one of those things I guess.

why not go DOHC Vtec? I find them to hold boost better, than the SOHC motors. Although I have heard the SOHC motors can hold boost better, but who knows hehhe

well, it was cheaper at the time. I only paid 1000 for the charger. now I had to get a new motor: 2100!

$2100? wow thats a lot. hondamotorsonline.com has the B16a1 complete changeover for $1550 without shipping which is around $300, and they will even throw in an LSD Tranny for another $300

yeah, but then there's installing it, not something I'd do my self. plus I'm sure it doesn't come with a warranty. I can go 1year/10,000 miles. If it blows, new motor

thanks man. By the way I love those mp3's! Are they getting a lot of aftermarket stuff available yet?
JRSC should make a charger for them, but it be better if vortech did!
