it depends on the year too, the older vtec si's or sir's (depends on where you live) have the good vtec, the new ones with the i-vtec are junk, i have had MANY honda lovers tell me that i-vtec is junk.

ok i used to have 99 si .. and stock to stock p5 would have no chance to stand by it
in fact back then i wouldnt even consider it racing if i was next to a p5
i see a lot of ppl with turbos on the forum and thats the only ones who could take an si but around here ive never seen one on the road yet .. then again that may not be easy to spot unless you have a loud exhaust or a million stcikers on your car

again owned si, own p5 now - the p5 has nowhere to go after 4k rpm it just rolls.. si rolls to 5k and then shoots away
i was used to hitting the redline in every other gear change unless speed limits didnt allow and trust me that car was 100 times more dynamic then the p5 ... the five is nice though with the tourque and all but sometimes it feels like a grociery getter .. doesnt really have the character .. si can rip through the twisities like a true sportscar with really nice sounds too

the new si's are basically shit maybe except fpr the shifter which is really cool but in my opinion the si badge should not have been carried over from the 99-00 models to 01-now ones
the only place you can still get that experience is in the rsx-s which is a sweet car .. i have some design reservations with it but its definately worth the engine

i agree man, your not gonna hold a candle to the si, in a p5, so get off it guys.

That why i don't have a p5 but a first generation protege

I must say....SI's are nice cars. My bf has a hatchback w/ an INtegra engine swap, BUT he STILL Hasn't beat an SI! He's beat many others, but the si is harder to beat from what I've been told.

SI's, I respect you. they have a good motor under their belt and anybody that says diffrent should ride in one and see for him/her self.

But, i think the Protege's are getting up there. we just need to fine tune it a little more and we will get there

:firehair: I had a 93' Protege DX that I was fixing up, I didn't have to do to many mods to it because it would run I raced several Civics, Escort ZX2's, Probes, Camaros, even a Tahoe. I had only a custom intake, NGK plugs and wires, Unorthodox underdrive pulleys, an ACT clutch, and a SuperTrapp Tuneable Exhaust. I loved that car I. I used to drive 2 hours in Texas in the back highways and had a guy in a 3000Gt try to run with me but he would choke out around 115/120mph. but my little Protege would hold strong. Only draw back was the car was real light, the body and suspension were stock and had alot of lift, so I never really pushed harder than 125mph. Sadly a little old lady ran the intersection and totalled my car before I could get it painted. :rant: Now I have a 2002 LX to play with. : :D

Dont know but my friend 323 fwd is running 13.02 at 106 mph at just 15 psi. Imagine when we get it all set to 30psi?. About the NSX I was talking from modified. Not stock!.

nop, alredy here in the island we have a couple of 323 daily driven with almost the same mod's running 10.50 seconds on slicks and thats what we are looking for so lets see what happends. I will let you know.

I use to own a 97 civic ex w/ headers, intake, wires, cam gears, exhaust system and w/ all that stuff i still wasn't able to beat or even keep up w/ the 99 civic si on a stock trim so i decided to buy a 60 shot single fogger wet system NOS w/ this i was killing my friends si w/ headers and intake about a car length ahead but thats about it. Right now i own a 03 p5 STOCK ! and there's no way in hell it can keep up with the stock si. Stock si is running 15.8 1/4 mile stock. p5 is like 16.5 if im not mistaken...

that is y i got a 323 w/ bp motor to keep up with them hondas....

honda makes a good reliable cars and yes its a good sports compact car too, but in my experience the p5 has the better handling than the SI's...

I have a friend with a '00 or '01 SI and we have tried racing. On the straights he's only slightly faster (mabye half a car length to 100km/hr). But we tried it with some twisties and I had no problems keeping up with him. We reversed the process and he tried to follow me... tried. The P5 is better in the turns, 'nuff said.

BTW, this is not to knock the SI or any Honda, I think they are great cars. The SI is a really great driving car but the P5 deffinately handles better.
