Unhappy Confidence followed by disaster

Well I know that I posted a similar post in "discussion" but I thought I would just go ahead and just tell about the cars I beat last night... btw these are my first legitimate races. Alright to start the night off I was offered to race a mid'90s 4.6L V8 Thunderbird. I had 2 other people in my car and he had one. We went from a 45mph roll. Right as the passenger counted to three I went in third gear... should have downshifted... he got a lead on me but then I pulled on him and left him. I was surprised! Then another friend of mine had a nasty '96 Mustang SVT Cobra. I was thinkin... no way I'm going to beat him. He told me that he would let me start from his back bumper and get a jump on him. So I downshifted into second gear and took off! I swear I left him by like 4-5 car lengths! I didnt think that he tried or something went wrong. When we pulled over all he was doing was laughing. He said he can't wait to get made fun of by the people at school when he tells him he got beat by a Protege. He said next time we're going from an even start! Then to top the night off I race a turbocharged Talon. This thing was pretty sweet. I head his wastegate from like a mile off when he was going to meet up with us. Well anyway we both go on the interstate and do a 45 roll. We go on three.... and the same result... I leave him behind. I think it may have been by like 3-4 car lengths by the time the race was over. So you wanna know what ended the race??? Well basically my engine blowing up! I pretty much know why it happened... no intercooler+high speed and high revs= detonation in the motor. Well now I'm left with a car that doesn't run but I'm going to take a block from an SOHC with the lower compression pistons and swap it over. It really sucks but at least I got some respect.

Sorry to hear about your detonation! Losing an engine sucks.

Get it back together, and for god's sake man, GET IT TUNED CORRECTLY!

sorry to hear that your motor blew , but you should have been keeping an eye on your A/F ratio gauge, (you have one RIGHT) , and adjusting your feul maps , .. I hope things work out for you when you get your car back together and make sure it is tuned right before you start racing again .

Shitty man. Why weren't you running an intercooler? That's just a perfect recipie for meltdown.
