hey guest, do you have any SI buddies in the Austin Tx area? I want to race one! Just to see if the hype is real. Mod for Mod, NA only, Look at my sig and find me some one. We can do both the track and the auto cross. Let me know what you find out. I am a pretty good driver so make sure you don't get some punk kid.

Sounds good, But I am more interested in the drag race. And I want it to be at the track, not some street race. I want a slip, that will kill to birds. I want to see what it will do. Now if he wins, then I'll go the auto cross way to try and save face! LOL.
Notice that I'm not saying I or him will win. This is to just see. Buy all means he should, I only have 130hp stock, with mods maybe 110whp. Him what 130-140? Plus it would be fun as hell. Maybe set up a mazda V Honda thing!

Track and Drag strip will be done, just gimme a couple of days to get members who are intersted

Its the Focus with the new Mazda produced Duratec that you really have to worry about. If you have 2 to 3 mods then you can get into the 14's easy. Sorry to the 3's Ford likes to keep you under wraps.

Your cars dyno at like what 110 whp? lol Sorry, unless you're heavily modded (like this kid i know cWill), you need to look in the mirror when calling people slow. I recognize that my car's best as far as stock goes is probably mid 15s...pretty slow if you ask me.....but i doubt that your 3 is running time that will OUTCLASS it or anything else in its class...especially since you guys have admitted being slower than Spec-vs, which are like 3 tenths faster than stock si's. I looked in the track section of this forum and all i heard was crickets....not too much action going on here guys, just being frank

In order to outclass everyone in its class the 3 would have to take on the spec-v and srt...two cars that would beat the 3 senseless.

as far as crickets when it comes to the track...

http://www.k-series.com/article_deta...?article_id=12

sorry come again...The EP3 chassis has DOMINATED the BTCC for the past couple of years....

and if you think thats too modded of an example to be considered "track." check out my some of ephatch's members autocross results

http://www.ephatch.com/forum/showthread.php?t=38237

enjoy seeing all the 1st-3rd STS finishes Damn....i guess there must be alot of crickets then huh

was lookin for an autocross section here, but i think the search button isnt working
Interesting that you decide to switch back to the Protege to argue your point...All I mentioned was the 3.....

How many cars in this class do have 160 hp stock ???? So what do you mean it doesnt come close to outclassing the other cars ??? You should consider the cars in the same class as a 3...Focus,Cobalt,Neon,Sentra,Corolla,Civic.....The 3's real competition is the Sentra Spec-V(the Spec-V was overrated from the factory btw),and the Corolla..until you bring in the SI,the Civic doesnt come close..Wanna see some track racing???....Do a search under speed world challenge and see what cars a Protege is matched up with.....

Wanna real race ??? I got another mazda......he-he

Im going to be comparing the 2.3 liter 3 to the top tier competitor from other brands. We could compare the base model to its competitors, but i want a comparison that includes my car hmm lets see the cars in the 3s class shall we.:

Mazda 3-160 hp
Focus SVT -170 hp
Civic Si -160hp
Dodge Neon SRT 4-230 hp
Corrolla XRS-170 hp
Cobalt SS-205 hp
Scion tC-158hp

WHOA...look at the domination!

moving on,

LOL, im not trying to make a point to just you buddy, hence why i included the protege as well. I switched to the protege because a segment of the people calling the EP3 slow garbage where protege owners. The 110 whp Protege will get whomped hard by an Si driver. Its a fact of life. The 3 is a better match for the EP3 than the protege...i was just trying to point out the fact that some people in this forum HIGHLY overestimate their p5 wagons.

If the Si doesnt come close to the 3 , then lets compare numbers. The fastest i have run with i/h/leaky midpipe/intake gasket is 14.7@92 on all season toyo fz4s. Whats the average number for a 3 with similar mods? I have seen stock si's hit 15.4 at the track on more than one occassion. Show me a slip of a 3 running better numbers with similar mods and i will take my hat off to you. Ive yet to see one at the track so i truly dont know what they do. I have raced a couple on the road, but thats an unfair comparison because, well i have more mods than the ones i have raced.

Show me a dyno chart of a 3 with bolt ons, heres one of an Si with the following
I/H/E/ECU

As far as the spec v beign overrated....Definately not buddy. Have you ever raced one? Have you ever seen them at the track? They can hit 14.9@91 stock at the track with a good driver. That little 4 door packs alot of punch. My best friend has his modded with basic bolt ons on street tires. His car hits 14.3@96....pretty damn impressive for a N/A I4 with only bolt ons.

The protege in the speed world challenge is very well built, i will give you that. But the cost to make it that much a performer is WAY more than you would pay to make a K-series vehicle perform on the same level. Since you are into Speed World Challege, check out the Realtime Racing RSX. Im sure youll be impressive with Peter Cunninghams domination

Im not trying to make you guys feel bad or inferior at all dude. I hate it when a guy comes into the forums i frequent and tries to act like he has the best car in the world. At the same time, i cannot stand ignorance, especially when the facts are clear (when comparing the Si to a protege). Like i said, show me some track times for the 3. I know it should run mid - low 15s. Its a good competitor for the Si when stock. hell maybe its faster. I came on this board to try to show protege owners that Si's are not simple pushovers like you guys were making them seem. The 3 is a MUCH more worthy competitor. Anyway im tired, im goign to try to organize a track meet at Austin like hughes412 suggested.

And as far as wanting to race another mazda, sure. But since you get to switch cars, then ill be using my strictly track use EF Hatch

Ill keep you guys posted on the Austin Event, it should be a good time. If any of you guys are in Florida, id love to try to get one organized here. Itd be alot easier for me to get a good group goign too since i do live here lol.

this is k20importtuner again...

you guys have to remember it's all about horsepower:weight ratio... if you take a light car like the civic and a motor that'll not only last a couple hundred thousand miles, AND responds well to mods, AND gets 25-30mpg while running 12s and 13s... it's gonna be a damn good car to have.

Now Idk how much your 110 whp(whatever's) weigh but the new Si is only 2300-2400 lbs, sure it's "heavy" for a civic, but if you're doing full interior AND STREET TIRES while running low 13s, imagine stripping and slicks+axles.

Idk if PapiTuyo posted this but someone wanted this up:

sure it's 24 PSI, but for buddy saying that the new mazda motor is boost friendly, tell him to suck on that a one time."

define "troll".......

If you're looking for unbiased reviews of a mazda product don't come to a mazda forum. You will NEVER find me on a honda website arguing with honda owners over who's cooler.

This whole thread went downhill fast. One of the things I pride this site on is that we dont fight or argue. There is no way to avoid conflict when you have people like this coming over with the sole intent of trying to change peoples minds. I don't see this thread producing anymore beneficial information but out of sheer morbid curiousity I'll leave it open a little longer.

moving on,
I work for a car company, so let me straighten you out a bit as to what is "in class"

First of all Focus SVT, out of production...SRT-4 is not part of the class, it's competition is the WRX STI, and the Lancer EVO,Cobalt SS is the same...once again,on a race track(a track actually has turns btw) is the real difference. And yes the rest of the class cannot compete. Also keep in mind technically the direct competitor the the 3s is the Civic EX,not the SI....and we all know where that one will go....the upcoming Mazdaspeed 3 would be a direct competitor to an SI. Speaking of Mazdaspeed, I'd love to hear you lie to me and tell me any model Honda that can match a Mazdaspeed Protege on the track, stock for stock .

S2K

p.s. Mac is right. The Si is their "performance model"....the Mazdaspeed 3 will be out at the end of this year (and not rolling on 15" wheels).
