2 kills then i got slaughtered

driving around the outskirts of my town in my 91 dx. We have a three lane highway that closes about 1/2 a mile from a stop light. i'm stopped at that light and my two friends one in a low mod 87 honda accord and another in his stock '85 2.8 camaro, are next to me. the light turns green we take off. and we're all nose to nose to nose. The kid in the camaro misses 2nd gear and drops out. meanwhile im in third going 60 and the Accord is right with me. I hit 80 shift to 4th gain about 1/2 a car length on him and he quits. Right after that it becomes 2 lanes and I had to stop due to a red light. when all of the sudden I see a kid in a WRX pull up from nowhere and start smiling at me. Im thinking there is no chance in hell I will win this one, but I've never seen a WRX in action. So the light turns green we both gun it and he's gone. I gave up after 1st gear. but i must say it was sweet seeing that thing take off like it does.

After that i decided I will save the WRX for the day my day lets me take out his 74 corvette with a 350 in it. hehehhehehehe

Good kills try your luck on a modded 4th generation Accord (90-93) and lemme know how it turns out..Never raced a protege before or after swap and would like to know how they compare. I assume you are running mid 17's in the 1/4 mile?

I played with a 93 or 92 model accord once on the highway , I stayed in 5th , and could tell he had an automatic, we basically were just accelerating , but his car was making so much noice, I think it was the intake, and I was head to head with him , ofcourse I did not shift down ,, mainly cause i did not feal like it

oh really? I remember when I had my stock LX motor I raced a Protege like yours from 0 to 100 and we stayed even all the way up, I was VERY impressed, I talked to the guy, turns out he had a 1.8L DOHC motor. I haven't raced one since the swap, so was curious.

actually the both kids are very good friends of mine, and we are very competitive with the racing in our circle to the point where we can win an argument by reenstating the person who won the last race. It's all in great fun, but ever so serious. I got two new wins on him today and he was ripped. and to be honest with you I would say our cars are equal as well as our driving skills. cause we will switch cars and it will still be a very close race every time unless a bad start or missed gear.

yup, lot bigger market for 4th gen..the 4th gen is the fastest accord stock for stock, even though the 5th gen+ have more HP and Vtec when i had stock LX motor in, I had 2 passengers, and pulled on a modded 5th generation EX Coupe that had no passengers..kinda sad eh? He had Vtec and around 10-15 more hp than me lol

My girlfriend has a accord 91lx coupe 5spd It is pretty fast in its stock form. I have also beat 94-97 accords and one time a 2000 auto ex. The car is lighter then those gens, I am always able to beat her when we race but only because she drives like my grandmother, its ok a win is a win right.
