03' P5 vs. early 90s Audi 80

I posted this in another forum, I dont know if thats like bad form to post the same thing in 2 places, if so, sorry... but I wanted to tell my story...

I had my first race in my P5... it was cool, even though I know these Audi's arent fast or anything, it was just fun smoking him... and he started it, so its not like I went looking for it or whatever... lol

He pulled out of a side road out on this country road that I commute in on, he pulled in front of me, so I had to go around him and then he got on it I guess so he didnt look like he cut me off, which he did, but thats no big deal at 5AM, no other cars around anyways mostly. The Audi was lowered, with nice rims, exhaust, and looked real clean too, not a bad old school Euro car IMO. So anyways, even when he got on it I was way out ahead of him, but at 62 I backed down and held steady for the 5 miles into town, too many cops to go above that, he got in front of me in the other lane and then held the same speed. There was another car in front of me the whole time, and I didnt provoke him or try to pass. A red-light came up, but the car was still in my way and I didnt have room to go around him, so I got behind the Audi. At the green, he hits it, little chirp and all... and I go for it too. I just hit 1000 miles but I havent gotten my first oil change yet so I wasnt totally getting on it, but I was stuck right on his back bumper. When I had room to move over I got in front of that other car, but at 5000 RPM I shifted to second. I was still pulling past him, but I shifted to 3rd too soon, I guess a habit from the last 2 weeks of trying not to overrev during break-in. But even then I was still easily passing him, but he was starting to pick up. I made the decision to just go for it, I thought I could have him and I gambled on the cops. We hit 80-85 or so and I had 2 car lengths and was still pulling ahead, thats when he backed off real fast and got down to the speed limit. That scared me, I thought he might have seen a cop that I missed... so I dropped back too, but he wouldnt catch up to me, and there was no blue lights so it was cool.

Anyways, like I said, I know its no big deal, but I had fun, and I didnt even have to use the full potential of the car. Just thought I would share the story...
