I wanna bump this thread cause I dont want to make my own but...

I got those same rims and want to get them powder coated like that too. There are a couple of "shops" around here that say they can do it. What prices should I be looking for and any lingo I should know. Also what about those center caps?

typically you'd expect to pay about $75/rim since they'll have to be sandblasted and then preped, coated, cured and buffed. I charged gary a bit less because I had so many problems with delays. $300 for a set of 4 is a good price I'd think.

The center caps are plastic and cannot be coated, they had to be painted by hand.

As for lingo to use/look for, ask them what colors they have and what their gloss rating is. The black on Gary's wheels is only 90% gloss. It's hard to tell in the pictures but the rims looked wet when I shipped them off. I've seen black like this in 120% gloss before and it's crazy. You can also get LESS gloss if you want a flat look. Typically 50% gloss will be flat, 80-90% will be perfect and 100-120% will be crazy.

The center caps were pretty easy. I just taped the whole thing and then used an exacto
to cut out the logo. Used gloss black to paint I found in my garage. I got lucky, even close up the color matches exactly.

w00t for color matching.

I'm actually trying a new paint right now on my guage pod I got a while back. I'm trying the "house of kolors" Shimerin' kit....3 step process thats supposed to mimic the look of silver undercoat with glitter showing through the translucent color coat...and then clear to seal it all up...The blue I got is a dead match for the mp3/p5/msp I think...I'll postr pics tomorrow
